In the first game 343GS said that the halo ring mc was on could practicly distiry anything in our galaxy. If the Cove live in our galaxy then one halo could get them

then we would get killed too. You'd have to make sure that earth was out of range or else you'd fire halo and come back to a massive wasteland.

Its very logical to say that the Covie come from all different planets and if there was a "homeworld" or at least a major base on a planet, I think it would be on a planet ruled by the Prophets.

I have a feeling that the Prophets are going to be the major ploy of any plot twists that happen in Halo 2.

Ok, so everyone thinks that somehow the chief and cortana destroy the covenant homeworld (if there is one), and that will result in a win. In the E3 2003 demo there is a battle taking place on the earth, and in the teaser trailer it shows lots of covie ships above the earth chilling, waiting for something. Dont you think that if a covie homeworld, or main base of operations is destroyed, then that massive fleet at earth will hear about it? They will be pissed off, and most likely glass earth. So I disagree with the secret mission of the mc going to destroy covie homeworld. A much more possible scenario is that a 3rd power comes into the war. Is it forerunner? Maybe, but whoever it is probably helps the humans, and you might get a massive space battle above earth or somewhere else. And it also explains how they are going to get so many new weapons into the game. Just my theory, i cant wait to see what bungie comes up with. Nov 9, 2004 prepare to be wowed.

i think either they will use halo's weapon against the covie planet or they will hi-jack a covie ship and fly it to the planet...it shouldnt be too hard to hi-jack one of those ships anyway...we are always playing in one in Halo...you know, all you have to do is take the gravity lift up, kill all the covies inside, and figure out how to drive the thing.

My opinion is that they sneak aboard a covie ship and put a fury tac nuke in it as it goes to the covie homeworld like if it was escaping. Or you know Halsley and Kelly left the planet/meteor it might have sumthin to do with that.

I really don't think chief can go and destroy the covie homeworld without dealing with the armada that is above earth first. Even if he did destroy the covie homeworld without killing the covie ships, they would destroy earth from above; defeating the humans. I think there has to be another power involved.

It was a different kind of Halo I think they can target a dirrect species and obliterate them or maybe it was the unyeilding hyrophant thing.

what, you mean like black people, and white people, and chinese people?
on another note: the Covies are made up of several DIFFERENT species of creatures: i.e. in order of intellectual and hierarchal significance: the Prophets, Elites, Brutes, Engineers (maybe), Hunters, Jackals, and Grunts.
As mentioned in numerous articles on HBO, it is pretty much agreed that the Grunts have their own homeworld (i.e. the "methane planet"), and so it is logical to assume that every other species would have their own homeworld as well (except maybe the Prophets and Elites, who may or may not share a homeworld ... O.o kinky)
Anyway, going back to the original point: if there are multiple Covie "homeworlds", then how many planets will the Master Chef (intentional misspelling) and his buddies have to destroy before the Covenant threat is eradicated?

If you read the end of first strike you know that any attempt to go to the covie homeworld would fail. The reason they wouldn't get past the massive guns that kill anything that doesn't have the right codes or just doesn't look normal. So I've determined two things

1. Something BIG will happen in halo 2, so BIG that somehow the covie homeworld will be defeated. I don't know what that is but it obviously isn't jacking a ship and taking it there.

2. Good thing Mc and his spartans didn't go on that missions or they would have been shot the moment they neared the the covie homeworld.

What do you guys think...
I think you need to change your avatar. You are elite hunter and your avatar is a masterchief.

I think what he means to imply is that he is a hunter of elites, neither an elite, nor a hunter.
Thus, his Master Chef avatar would be appropriate.
On another note: I think we should all spell Chief as Chef from now on.

Ok, how about this idea then....In the E3 2003 demo of single player, right at the end the MC gets captured by the 12 Black Elites...ok, he doesnt, but theres no way in hell he's not getting captured there. Now, what do the Covenant want you alive for? you have Cortana at that point so that probably a big thing. But what will they do with you? take you on a ship, definatly, take you too a station, highly possible, take you home for the Prophets? hmmm, also a possible. And being the MC theres always a way out of any situation. So maybe, ok a big maybe, you get captured, taken home, and escape and kick some butt on Covenant turf...or that 2003 E3 movie was just nice and pretty and has utterly no relavence to the game whatsoever.

All you'd do to stop the pulse laser cannons from firing at Earth is turn the laser's direction to fire away from Earth. I'm sure you can do that, the Forerunners don't seem all that primitive that you couldn't adjust the direction lol

I think Leagend said it best: you don't close your franchise game with an ending that would prevent a sequel. Halo 3, while likely not a launch title for Xbox Next (or whatever it's called), would definitely be marketed as the premier title for it.

However discussion for Halo 3 is pretty pointless right now except in the sense that it relates to a possible ending for Halo 2. Therefore, the types of endings that can reasonably be ruled out, assuming Master Chief is the Mario of Xbox....

1. Earth eating it
2. Covenant being annihilated (unless a new type of enemy previously unheard of surfaces)
3. Master Chief dying in the story (obviously he will die an infinity-pushing number of times from all the hacks playing the game)

Maybe you get captured and Zamamee, who is alive and looking for revenge comes to kill you. But just before you get killed, Linda and the remaining spartans come and save your ass.
