Halo not just a game but a way of life

me and my friend sat down after buying HALO the very next day after it came out to play on legendary. man those were the good old days. we were hammered but those gold elits so much we actually went crazy. but it was worth it cause we saw the special cut scene that only the rought neck of HALO will see.

I'll be honest. I suck at shooters but love it. I have beaten it on everything before Heroic. I am currently working on that but man. It is so hard.

beating the game on legendary is not really hard. you just got to keep moving and dont waste your ammo. ensure that all shots are direct. heres a hint. use the pistol on elits, ensure they are all head shots then take it out with your AR.

I couldnt count the number of times me and a mate have smoked a fiddy while playing the whole game through from start to finish on legendary....kinda over it now though. I just play a single level every now and then to get my Halo fix, usually after i watch the E3 demo and im all gee'd for it. I've actuallt quit choofing till H2 comes out...i wonder how many others have made this resolve.

Legendary take more presistance than anything. It took me a long time the first time I went through it, but now I only get hung up on a few key parts and thats mostly cause I inisit on keeping at least one marine alive in in every fight.

yeah legendary took me a while but once i completed it i couldnt go back and do the other difficulties, they were way too easy after that. there are a couple of places in that i still get stuck for a while and i`ll die a couple of times before i get through em, e.g Truth and reconciliation, fighting around the grav lift and then the first huge chamber as soon as your inside the ship. also library, the bit where your stuck between the doors in that lil room.

yes

every level on every difficulty setting.

first few runs were slightly hardish getting used to elites doing so much damage and taking so much but after a few run throughs now its pretty easy. Just wish xbox had a keyboard and mouse :(

(before you say get pc version my pc wont play it)

Here are some tips to save ammo and survive the good fight...
* It helps to circle the enemy while firing so their bullets or melees can't hit you.
* Grunts: Personally, I like to sniper them with the pistol before I get really close. Another quick way of desposing them is to shoot them once with the pistol while running at them and hit them with a melee attack for a two-hit kill. Plasma grenades also help because once they stick to a grunt, they will run back into their own platoon and take out many other Covies.
* Elites: They have two weak spots that I know of. One is their back. Melee attack behind them and they will drop like a bad habit. The other is under the jaw. This particular area is hard to get to considering they are always crouched. If you melee them from the front and then shoot the orange area on the neck with a pistol they should go down. It could take some practice.
* Hunters: Easy...dodge their running charge and shoot them in the orange area of their back with a pistol for a one-hit kill. (I hope they are a little more challenging in Halo 2)
* Jackals: These, too, are easy. Run to their shielded side where they can't shoot you and melee them once to get the shield down, and second to finish them off. Alternate would be to use a charged blast from a Plasma Pistol and finish them off with a melee attack.
* Flood: (parasitic type) Use an AR with short bursts to dispose of them quickly.
(mutated type) A single shotgun round at close range is highly affective and recommended. Just remember to keep moving and circle the enemy so you don't get jumped on or shot.

Well I know most of this is old news, but who knows? It could help some lost gamer out there.

P.S. In order to get the secret ending, just play through the game on Easy and play The Maw on Legendary. You should have the confidence, if not the strength, to get though it.

I beat all levels on all difficulties. I sat down one month and just did it all, so now i've got like this little row of symbols at the bottom of the screen, it's cool.

And on flood infection forms, why waste ammo? just hit them and they pop with no damage to you. If theres a lot in one place, just a few well placed shots or even one grenade takes them all out, and the fragments from an exploding flood take out like three others. That's why i don't get it when people complain about lack of ammo in the library, they must just be wasting it and not getting their movement right.

I've beaten them all on all difficulties as well.

Some pointers:

1. The Pistol is your best friend. It's great for killing grunts in one shot. Remember that when a lone jackal first sees you, he'll stop and point at you and put his shield to the side; this is the best time to ventilate his skull. Take similar advantage of hunters' orange spots.

2. Related to point 1, the pistol is actually the gun I use on all the flood levels, paired with the shotgun. You can kill the explosive ones with two shots and most larger flood with 3. Use the shotgun when they get close and melee the little balloon-like ones.

3. Grenades are perhaps even more useful than the pistol. In any level that has lots of grunts and elites, use plasma grenades all the time, because they are so plentiful in these levels. Aside from a well timed smack, nothing kills an elite more efficiently than a plasma grenade stuck on him when he is not moving.

4. Remember that you don't always have to fight everything. From the two betrayals on, many of your enemies also hate each other. Walk into a new area to get them to fight each other, then hide for awhile while they duke it out. Related to this is the fact that in the two betrayals you can avoid a lot of combats (especially the final run for a banshee) just by hopping in a ghost and strafing a lot.

5. Never reload during combat if it can be avoided. Switch your weapons. (Unless you have the shotgun, one thing that many people don't seem to know is that you can fire while reloading the shotgun. However, if you wait until you spend all of your shotgun ammo, you will have to wait while the master chielf reloads all 12 shells. So always reload the shotgun. In the library shooting flood and reloading afterwards becomes a reflex.)

6. And one last real basic thing: wait for your shields to recharge. You can't kill anyone if you are dead. Most indoor levels give you plenty of cover to crouch behind; take advantage of it. You can control the pace of things in most situations. The parts where you can't are the only really difficult parts of the game.

I don't like to brag but even Legendary seems easy for me. I've beaten the entire game, beginning to end, playing non-stop, using only human weapons, saving all but 10 marines, and not dying. All of this under 16 hours roughly.

You really need to start spelling correctly JoeyBagaDonuts. For someone who has been around as long as you have, I am surprised no one has tried to whip you into shape. I guess it is up to me then. The corrected version of your post would be:I beat it on legendary when I was in my prime of playing Halo. Man those were some times... Took me a long a$$ time to beat, but I did it on co-op before by myself so I knew what I was up against. I think beating that on legendary turned me into the good Halo player I am.Perhaps you should lead by example. If all of the members who were here before would spell exceptionally, then perhaps the new people will see that and try to imitate the grammatical correctness.
