because when u buy the Halo PC disk it comes with Gamespy's software on it already, i've never tried it before but i think u can join servers outside the Halo game(like directly on their website.)

are you connected when you try to find games?
make sure you click on 'internet' not 'lan'
did you press 'get list'?
if you answered yes to al these things, than all you need to do is reinstall. if you said no to any, than you need to do that

Heyyo,

Not everyone's made of money. The game shall work on dial up... not very well, but at least you'd be able to play.

I suggest you just keep trying until you get a server that looks good. I'm not too keen on aol, cause their service by tiself bogs down your internet connection.. and limited as it is, that's not good. I suggest you also try n' find servers with less than 8 people, or you may lag out n' get dropped from the server. Also aim for the lowest ping.. low low low. The lower? the better. ;)

BTW, subscribing to gamespy's not required. Gamespy's a system to find online games and play them. Most games use the gamespy system for finding games cause it's just soo darn popular. Games that have a built in gamespy lobby are FREE. :)

IF you wish to use the official gamespy program, it has advertisements. If you subscribe the ads are disabled, and you get acess to special gamespy servers, hosted by gamespy.. Those server's are apparently incredible with 24/7 admins, so no chances of gerifers.. almost makes it worth the subscription fee. They also apparently hold tournaments for gamespy subscriber members, apparently for cash n' prizes, so if you pwn you could make your money back n' them some. ;)

Aw that sucks. I don't know much about WIndows XP except that it's stupid but the only reason I use them is so that I can play games.
