I like all of the books, but I like Fall of Reach a little bit better because it tells how the war was started and how John came to be. It also develops the characters a bit better.

THe Fall of Reach is great for background, First Strike is great for upcoming greatness, and the Flood sucks. Just play Halo and ignore the Flood exsistence.

While the covenant maybe a strange group of fellows the flood are like bad-ass-mutant marshmallows

Halo not just a game but a way of life

i choose "FIRST STRIKE" cause i was eager to know what happen after the master chief and cortana destroyed halo. if you want an action pack continuation from the game read "FIRST STRIKE".

NOTE:
"FIRST STRIKE" is not an indication of what HALO 2 will be like. it is all made up so dont believe that you are getting a sneak peek at HALO 2.

They all rock, and to those of you who said the flood sucks, i think you are wrong because it fills you in on everything you didnt hear about in the game....like how the flood attack the unsc base, ect.

the events that took place in "FIRST STRIKE", we will not see in HALO 2. i still stand by what i say. "FIRST STRIKE" has no indication of what HALO 2 will be like. IF YOU CAN PROVE ME WRONG, I WELCOME THE CORECTION.

Personally, I liked Fall of Reach best because it explained the history behind the Master Chief and the other SPARTANs. Also, it made me empathize more with the characters of the game after reading their backgrounds and what they've done before Halo.

yeah i think halo 2 will have alot to do with first strike and all that happens in it. Nylund or whatever worked along with bungie workers and i mean why even write the book if halo 2 is gonna have nuttin to do with it. i mean come on how we gonna learn where the crystal came from and what it is? just my opinion, all the question in first strike will be answered in halo2

that is true, reading the "FALL OF REACH" gives you a better understanding of the pains the Master Chief and his teammates had to endure. read it for a history lesson then read "FIRST STRIKE" after finishing the game.

I liked The Fall of Reach better for a few reasons. For one, the other books simply weren't as good. The Flood was basically a retelling of what goes on in-game, with a cheesy ending for the marines in my opinion. First Strike was good, and it was interesting to hear what happens after Halo, but a lot of it was cheap ways to bring back characters that should've just died. I've reiterated on that in other threads. The Fall of Reach was good because it told about John's beginnings and it was the most interesting to read about. We also find out about the other Spartans, and Cortana. I like origin stories, especially if they're well done, so that's probably one of the reason I like TFoR better.

Personally, I loved "The Fall of Reach" and "First Strike". "The Flood" I didn't enjoy quite as much, maybe it was because I had played through the game hundreds of times, or maybe because it was written by a different author. "The Fall of Reach" is just beautiful, I love how it explains how the Spartan II's came about and all that. While I loved "First Strike" because it gave me more story that I was just dying to know about.
If it's alright with everyone else, I'd like to turn this thread into a discussion of possibilities that the stories in the books left open as possible parts of Halo 2's story.
First off, the MC is not alone! Other spartans are alive and I would love to get some spartan team work missions like they do in the books, co-op like that would rock the house. Also at the beginning of "First Strike" when they got all the Spartans together to do the mission, it said that some Spartans were on missions so far away that they couldn't get back to do this mission, so they are still out there. And there is the situation of Dr. Halsey (and Linda or Kelley, I can't remember) is HAS to be in Halo 2, I just know it. Plus, Bungie already said that another Halo ring world will be involved in Halo 2, so my guess is that the flood is back.
This is my big idea of what a part of the story will be: you know how the covenent wanted that wierd crystal thing that was on Reach? My guess is that there is also something like it on Earth, and the Covenent want it. Well, those are some of my ideas for now, let me know what you all think about them and also what your own thoughts of the books' stories could mean for Halo 2.

Fall of Reach hands down. The writer had room to right. In First Strike there was a pre-determined plotline. I thought it kinda ruined it. Oh and to many loose ends.

I liked all the books, and the books do tie-in with the games. The writers worked closely with Bungie, and Bungie approved them. There's also a writer that wrote,"The Halo Story Bible," in which he explains everything in the Halo universe. Here's an interivew with the writer of the Halo Bible: http://bs.bungie.org/mtarchives/000228.html
