i play halo with my controls set to boxer mode which makes it so that the left trigger is punch and the B button is throw grenade. i like having my controls like this the only real problem i found with this set up was in the campaign when i was in a scorpion tank or a banshee. normally for both those vehicles the left trigger would shoot a plasma bomb(sorry forgot the name) for the banshee and the machine gun for the tank. this is annoying in boxer mode because you have to use the B button to do these functions so you have to take your thumb off the right thumbstick. i just think that this could suck for some aerial dog fights in halo 2 between banshees because there would be a disadvantage controlwise. give me your thoughts on this.

so get used to normal controlls (the way they where ment to be).

theres a reason the normal controls are the way they are.

Default won't solve this problem. I assume that when you go to throw a gernade on foot. The only control that allows you to execute every offensive attack the MC has without taking your finger off of the right thumbstick is Greenthumb. If you truely want to master Halo, I think it's logically proven that Greenthumb is the only solution.

so i'm pretty sure i wasn't complaining. is was just saying that it'd be nice to have the controls fixed. and no i don't think i should change my controls back to default. i do just fine playing with them the way i have them and i could probably beat both of you even though you have your controls "the way they're supposed to be"

ggivinish- Green thumb makes the B button the zoom button. i think that'd get in the way a bit.

it does make the zoom B. But you can't hurt anyone with the zoom, see what i'm saying?

OH! so you want there to be a seperate control setting for vehicles and for ground. Brilliant! They almost have this in Halo, at least they have the option to make ground movement inverted, and a seperate inverted option for vehicle movement.

using a pistol and zooming is a big part of how i play. zooming doesn't hurt people directly but zooming in on someone's head for get a two shot kill does

unless their sheild is down or you have no sheilds on you cannot get a 2 shot kill with the pistol...

That is one weak point of greenthumb, i suppose it's not for snipers. It is however very useful for close up frantic battles. Greenthumb may also be more useful in halo 2 where the pistol won't be a super weapon

"may" take more? it sounds like uve played multiplayer like once in ur entire life....the least amount you can kill someone with a pistol is 3 shots, if their shields are not hurt already, and i dont understand why you are concerned about this, you just said urself that you play just fine the way you have them set up now......so im really confused as to what ur problem is

the solution would be for there to be a default set of controls for vehicles instead of the controls changing depending on the control setup you have.

it is default , on the default setting. OR you can go w/ one that isn't "BOXER" or "DEFAULT"

Usually it makes me mad when people choose a different control type than the default, then complain about it- but I know where you're coming from.

I'm used to strafing/looking up and down with the right hand because I was used to goldeneye first, and it carried over to all of the other shooters I play.

So my halo controls are left stick: forward, turn left/right. Right stick: Look up/down, strafe. And that's fine when i'm on my feet, but because of this, my acceleration and turning are on the same control stick, so it makes it more diffecult to execute high-speed sharp turns, especially in the warthog.
