You dont have to use a mouse. There is an adapter that goes into USB. I too use a trackball but I love it!

First off, the reason why you think its dumb is because you're using some sort of different mouse that isn't made for gaming. Nobody I know for the last 7 years uses a stupid trek ball mouse. Either go get a mouse or don't complain to us that using a mouse is stupid. The mouse control has been here since Quake 1 way before Xbox or PS2 controller even left the drawing board.

i like using a trackball. i don't see what u guys have against it. the only benifit of a regular mouse is that it has a scroll wheel. true, i like to have the wheel for switching weapons, but i like the fact that a track ball is as accurate as a mouse, but requires less arm movement.

only problem with an optical mouse that's less than $10 is that it probably isn't that good, and will jump alot....

I honestly don't see a difference in different mice. I don't like the bally mice because theyr'e heavier and just sort of annoying. Optical mice are cheap and I don't think that the price in a regular optical mouse matters. All you needs is a right and left clicker and a scroll thingy.

Actually, the first mouse was invented around 1965. 40 years old. They've been using it for a looooonnnggg time. If you want to learn the history, go here.
