If thats true sorry my mistake. But i don't think all the Brutes defend prophets. I there is those four Brutes who dropped down on masterchief. Oh and I remember now the part an the very big Covenant ship when the Elites attacked the Spartans. I believe that was somthing to do with defending a prophet that was near by.

" Come closer tartarus and report. " A ripple of shock passed through the Imperial Elite Protectors. They had never seen such a creature allowed so close to the holy ones. " Protectors. " The prophet said, " Leave us. "

Page 339 First Strike, first peice of evidence that they are not the Prophet guards.

Anothe Cortana voice broke over the first: " Be advised Chief, that there are ceremonial guards in this temple- a race we have not encountered before...."

Page 310 First Strikre

The other piece clearing stating that they are not Prophet, but temple guards.

NOW THE MAN HAS A POINT THERE. CAUSE I CHECK IT AND HE IS RIGHT THEY ARE TEMPLE GUARDS. BUT STILL REMEMBER THEY ARE GUARDS THEREFORE THEY ARE GUARDS FOR THE PROPHETS. NOTE THE WORD USED "TEMPLE GUARDS",,"MAIN WORD GUARD"

Then the same could be said for the Grunts and Jackals and Hunters as well if you are going that route.

This is getting a little complex. I would like to say there strength and speed can be used for many jobs. Temple Gaurs, Prophet Gaurds, Attack Troopers, Covenant General. They're a multi-tasking race.

ALSO AN EXCELLENT POINT BUT IT IS STATED IN THE BOOK THAT THEY ARE TEMPLE GUARDS. MAYBE THAT IS WHAT THE PROPHETS WANTED THEM TO BE UNTIL THEY CAME ACROSS "THE MASTER CHIEF"

Your Right they were referred to as temple Gaurds, but think. A human can be a temple Gaurd(for a human temple) While another human can be a pilot. It could just be job.

One of the Brutes saw John, aimed, and fired. John darted back behind the basalt pillar; he saw the flash and thunder of a grenade launched from the weapon-heard two more rounds fired immedaitely after that. The first grenade impacted on the opposite side of the pillar and exploded.

Page 314 of First Strike

Sounds like heavy weapons to me.

Not sure if u guys already covered this, but I think there weren't any brutes in Halo, because maybe the Covies thought it was just going to be an exploration mission. It seemed like they didn't really expect a fight, though, they did bring some major weaponry along. I think the Prophets thought the Brutes weren't needed there.

Come to think of it those blue balls the Brutes were firing looked like plasma gernades going really fast.

Well the fast blue balls are in the E3 video. And the book explanation is in First Strike near the end inside the Covenant Warship.

Wait, does this mean that the Covies are gonna have their own "rocket launcher" esque weapon, other than the FUEL ROD GUN. That's not fair, jerks. And if so, are elites and maybe even grunts gonna be able to use it? Noting the grunts use of the Fuel rod gun, and the new screenshot with the jackal holding the plasma rifle.
