See that little button, next to "REPLY?"

Yeah, it's called EDIT, it's so we don't have to read 4 of your posts in a row, try and find it, and please use it.

The Brutes are powerfull and did kill Grace and almost Master Chief. And the reason why they are better than the Hunters is because Hunters aren't very smart.

Brutes- Temple Guardians- High One Likes Tartarus-

That doesn't in anyway state a replacement for elites so hopefully this is the end of the confusion.

P.S. If you don't agree spend the money and buy First Strike read the book and then you'll know you where wrong!!!!

Hmm. Its just if elites and brutes are very similar in terms of power then surely one brute couldnt defeat a hunter could it?

Sorret is right, there is no indication of Brutes replacing the Elites it is merely stated that the Prophets think quite highly of the Brutes.
Brutes are incredably strong, stronger than Spartans and Elites.
With how strong Spartans and Elites are realistically they could actually rip a Hunter in half if they had too so by rights, yes, so could a Brute. The statement was merely to emphasize the Brutes strength.
That is not to say they are stronger than Hunters as many have just come to assume its merely saying they could rip a hunter in half. A Hunter is incredibly strong and could rip Warthogs in half if it wanted to but whats the point?
Brutes are just a little smarter than Hunters

Actually if you read the book there is never one Hunter. They fight together and are considered brothers. But If Brutes use the stealth that they used in First Strike even the Mighty Hunters would fall.

BlueReaper Signing Off

!!!VAK ZOOI!!! is a term frequently used in multiplayer.

Gamertag: BlueReaper

I have to agree with, Zamamee. I first thought the Brutes were the Prophets protectors, but regarding the evidence presented. I have changed my opinion on the matter.

Even more irritating is the fact that i still haven't read First Strike, since there seems to be some sort of distributing problem that has got me waiting for 47 days now. I need to know what's in the book damnit!

Anyway my compliments to Zamanee for setting the facts straight.

They didn't capture a prophet. And Zamamee is right. Brutes are not the Prophets guardians because they lack logic. They become so pissed off at people that they ignore there goal and kill everything. Meaning, if a Brute is supposed to protect a Prophet, and they shoot him, he will run at them, leaving the Prophet open to attack.

They captured a Prophet in the Flood (second book) but the Truth and Reconciliation (the ship the captured Prophet was in) was destroyed, so the captured a Prophet for like afew hours and therefore learned very little.

Zamamee, you already seems to know everything there is to know about covenant and such, so I am thinking: Do you really need the books? It doesn't seem like it, so I wonder if you can perhaps donate them to me?

This is an interesting topic line.
But if you look at it from a historical point of view. Roman Senators & emperors were protected by the Pretorians (Elite Roman trrops), While temples were protected by private troops of Foriegn origin. the reason for this was that it was thought they would prove more loyal to the temple priests & not be as likely to obey an order from the Senate or millitary.

From a covenant point of view this might prevent a corupt prophet or group of powerful elites "FoR a high level elite can out rank a low level Prophet" from launching a rebelion using the Brutes for troops.

It's interesting though how the Prophet marvels at the Brutes strength in First Strike, as if they were somewhat new to the Covenant. Could it possibly be that Brutes are a race that had recently been assimilated into the Covenant?

sorry to live in the past but it never said that A brute could rip a hunter in half it actually said 'tartarus could rip a hunter in two'

even then that was the prophets opinion

ALSO: why arn't brutes griven the protetion of energy shields if they are so high in prophets eyes (that is my opinion though)

thats what i've been trying to say! Hooray! someone understands!! it was just tartarus, not a generalisation for all brutes.

besides the hunters "brother" would probably tap the brute on the shoulder "Um, excuse me.......".

theres a thing in this very websitye, "the covenant primer" which proves all those who think the brutes guards prophets horribly wrong. or does it? ist says that elites and prophets are ill at ease.

Do you have any proof that doesn't involve the books? Books are not always acurate and Bungie could have easily decided to have Brutes as Prophet guards. I am almost positive I found a reference to this in an article or weekly update and shall try to find it.

One other thing that no one has adressed is the fact that the Elites and Prophets are in a power struggle! Would you trust someone who wants your job to protect you? I don't think so. Do you guys have anything to discount this proof? I am going to find the page where I read this and post the link.

maybe this hints at the possibility of a big fallout in the covenant hierarchy, between the two core races of the covenant, elites and prophets. Maybe.
