Rahdigan, have you got this link you mentioned?
Also in the Covenant Primer on this site it doesn't say anything about the Brutes guarding the Prophets

Simply put, no.
Elite is spelt with a capitol E in the paragraph it mentions them in and if you read all my posts, which I strongly advise everyone does, you'll realise what you said didn't make much sense.

maybe when they think they win, they will use the buildings for the prophets, almost how the museum in fall of reach was used, but that was for a covie transmission

No I think Prophets prefer the safer environments of their ships and temples rather than on Human worlds and bulidings, snobs

yeah i thought so, but maybe some other species of great importance could be using it, and if not that, then they would be using is for, important transmissions, like in Cote d' Azur

Elites guard Prophets(or at least they should.) the Covenant was formed by Prophets and Elites. Elites were the soldiers and Prophets did the religion and finding Forerunner stuff

Zamamee is totally kicking everyone's ass inside this thread. Because he is right. Brutes = Temple guards, not Prophet guards.

And to the guy that said they may be a new race to the Covenant since we are just seeing them.

Then the same could be said of Elites, Hunters and Engineers. The first time we saw a Hunter or Engineer was at Sigma Octanus IV, just a month and a hlaf before Reach fell. And the first time we saw Elites was at the Fall of Reach, a mere week or two before the Halo Campaign.

"Zamamee is totally kicking everyone's ass inside this thread. Because he is right. Brutes = Temple guards, not Prophet guards."

Exactly. Another point is that as stated here I believe, on the Bungie website, the Covenant is an agreement between the Prophets and the Elites. The Prophets job is to find the Forerunner artifacts and the Elites job is to capture them/destroy enemies.

Also, didn't the first Prophet appear as a myth, in the Fall of Reach. If I remember the Spartans were going to try to capture some of them to try to end the war, but Reach was attacked before the mission launched.

yes, and the covenant fleet was a diversion, while they fought, dropships landed on reach, i just wish that never happened lol, it would have been a much better story,

I have found the quote to prove that there is a power struggle between the Elites and Prophets. Here it is

They (Engineers) communicate only with Prophets - a fact that may contribute to the balance of power between Elites and Prophets...
This is from the "Coveneant Primer". I am still looking for the update, but I would like to hear your response to this point. I certainly wouldn't allow Elites to guard me if I knew I was in a power struggle with them.

Me: "OMFG, Dude... wtf!"
AbolitionofMan: "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to betray you."
Me: "That's the 4th time in this game alone!"
Chris: "Third, besides he had the flag I was trying to stop him, how was I supposed to know you were there."
Me: "I said, 'I got the Flag, don't shoot.'"
Chris: "Well those Wraith shots take a while to reach you."
Me: "You were right next to me, I had killed him and a minute passed before you decided to shoot."
Chris: "Hahahahaha, yeah... that was great."

lol yeah in fall of reach, hunters arent that smart, remember the part of them stepping on the jackal?

They didn't step on them because they were stupid, they did so because they just don't care about the lesser Covenant races, in other words, to them they are not worthy of even being avoided, so if they were in thier way THEY had better move lest they get crushed. It says so in FoR.

You are correct, the job you were supposed to go on as MC was to find a Covenant Prophet and try and force them to sign a peace treaty. Now there are countless flaws in that idea but it shows just how despreate we are in the war. Just before the PoA was going to leave Reach was attacked.

Zamamee,

I forget where it says it, but in that last chapter of First Strike, when the Prophet is mentioning the Elites' surprise of seeing Tartarus, he says something like, that surprise could be used to our advantage. I don't remember the line, but if someone can find it, post it cause I think it might indicate a betrayal of the Elites, possibly by the Prophets and Brutes, which in halo 2 would lead to the Brutes being the Prophet protectors.

Oh, and why does the Prophet have all the Elite pilots killed at the end?

He has them rewarded greatly for bringing back the pieces of that artifact... then kills them quietly. Simply to make sure what they know does not spread. The Prophets are using the artifacts for something and whatever it is it destorys the artifacts since the Prophet says:
"It may yet be enough for our purposes... and one more relic of the Great Ones, as precious as they are, will make no difference to us."
The Prophet also states the surprise of the Protectors by him letting a Brute so close, and he comments on the Brute how it is the perfect tool. Again, I like to think that the Brutes and Prophets are on thier own agenda and are hiding it from the Elites for reasons unbeknown to us, and this along with all the hinting of the Brute/Elite hatred could lead to the theory of a Covenant Civil War.

actually there is a screenshot somewhere with one brute guarding a prophet....i have it saved on my computer, its not proof or anything, but its a start

yea, i have that aswell, the Brute seems to be holding a gun in a ready stance to shoot, like on guard, so it is a BIG possibility that it is the Brutes that are the guardians, but it is only a possibility, but i think it is a Big 1, like i said earlier
