I recently looked into buying a new graphics card for my pc,I was going to get an AGP card but when I checked my motherboard I had no AGP slot. However it had a space to put an AGP slot into.So my question is,is it possible to actually install an AGP slot on your motherboard?

i don't think so. as far as i know, all motherbords are installed with what they're compatable with. if it were possible to add an AGP slot, your BIOS would not recognise it, and it could not possibly help you. eaither get a new mombo, or stick with what you've got

Yes I think it would be possible, BUT! If you don"t have a lot of patience for all the soldering and desoldering ie... new chipset, the slot itself, and a few other misc. chips I'm sure and not to mention having to rewrite the bios chip, you'd be hella better off just going and getting a new board.

I didn't really think so either but I needed a second opinion on this.Either way I'll just go the PCI Express route. Thanks for the help.

You can't install an AGP slot. What you get with a motherboard is what you get. You'd have to re-solder and wire the entire board, and like Iamwhie said, you'd need to get different BIOS and loads of other stuff.

Time for a new motherboard, probably a new pc, too.

You can't use PCI-express on old PCI slots. How old is your computer?

I would suggest just building a new one it wont cost you much. I would recommend a amd 64 or 64 fx board with pci express or agp. I just built mine on a k8v se deluxe with a 3400+ it runs everything at insane frame rates. But i dropped 500 on my graphics card, it is all up to you bud. How much you wanna spend, what performance do you want etc etc etc. I have built plenty of computers so just pm if you have any questions
