I just picked up the Bungie action sack, and I can get all the games to run, but they are unplayably choppy. I am on a new Imac, 800 mhz powerpc, 768 mb RAM, plenty of hard drive space. It is so frustrating...the games work, but they run slower than they did on my old Performa!

It doesn't when you're talking about the Mac Action Sack.

What operating system is the iMac running? Classic games don't run well when emulated in OSX. If you can boot into Classic, you'll be better off.

It very well could be your screen resolution.

Manually set it (in the OS finder environment) to 480x640, and for some of the games, to 256 colors.

For Marathon 1 which i just redcently played on a G4, I ran it in Classic, 1million colors, 640x480. However, i could not play with the mouse, b/c the mouse handled choppily and the background music played choppy as well. So i simply played with Oni and Matrix soundtracks playing using the arrow keys. In short, changes in quicktime may cause a few problems, but generally, i think most the trouble will be your screen resolution. They should be very playable. Good luck!

Hey, count yourself lucky that you can get OS X to run Marathon at all. My eMac running Panther doesn't even recognise them as classic applications; it asks me to specify which app I want to open them in!

Aleph One should probably work better, and it looks prettier too. Try downloading that and the filetype scripts that will change your map, sounds etc files to Aleph One files from the Aleph One site. Look for the Mac OS X version of Aleph One (last version April 17 2004) and the "Macintosh File Typing Tools" on the right hand sidebar.

To play Marathon 1 with Aleph One on a Mac, download M1A1 for Mac - it ports Marathon One to Aleph One.

Only problem I've had so far with the Action Sack is with Abuse in OS X... but Marathon and Marathon 2 both work so far with OS X's Classic or OS 9. I'm going to play Aleph One in a short time, so... I hope it lives up to its expectations.
