when i first got halo CE for the pc i was super happy because i did not have a xbox yet and i only played halo once. after about 4 months of playing online, i pissed this guy off bad by killing him almost nonstop, so he says to check my computer because he just put a virus on there. AND HE WAS TELLING THE TRUTH, i did a virus check a week before as a do everyweek, and i had gotten a virus from this guy. sad part is we did not have virus protection yet and i did not no the name of the guy. we had to have a guy come in to help. he then gave us a good anti virus, but because of this new program protecting our computer it will not allow me to enter any servers. sigh (halo2 has taken replacement for it)

If you have a firewall can they not put a virus on you while you're playing Halo online? I have Norton firewall 2005 and Norton Antivirus 2005.

What kind of Anti-virus/ firewall are you using, because without that information it's going to be hard to help.

Antivirus software and firewalls allow you to play online, you just have to configure them .My suggestion is to get rid of it and get McAfee, it's cheap and doesn't bug out on online games.

The guy screwed you and then gave you help? What a retard.

Will my firewall be able to keep out hackers??? If it can't, I'll never play Halo PC/CE online EVER again.

Yes well im considering not ever playing CE or Combat Evolved online ever again. I dont have any viruses. I have a really good internet connection. Then why. Because there are some very lame people in this would and when I join a server I play the game and kick ass. Then when the next game loads the server freezes. Can somebody tell me why this happens. Because its happening more and more and more every single freakin day.

It's a bug with the 1.06 patch, not with viruses or anything. Sometimes it can be service pack 2 too

Heyyo,

SLD, I believe he said he quote:"called in a guy to help" so I doupt it was the same guy that screwed the computer over. :p

Ok, yeah, did this so called "hacker" not move for a few minutes? if he was still moving and just stopped to type "I'm going to hack you" odds are he's just lame n' trying to intimidate you. You can't "hack" someone within 2 seconds. :p

Also, that's not very good man, I NEVER.. NEVER let my computers on the net without an antivirus, and the first thing I do is I get all the latest virus definitions n' junk like crazy. IF you don't have an antivirus for more than a week? you screwed yourself over soo bad. Heck, even with an antivirus I've gotten viruses. Antiviruses help, but sometimes they can't catch the virus fast enough.

Guys, don't listen to this story, go play Halo. Most lamers are too inept to learn to hack. And hacking takes a long time, probably over 20-30 mins.. so him blurting it out within 10 seconds? HA!

Firewalls do a darn spiffy job at keeping out hackers, and greatly increases the saftey of your computer, so having one's a good idea.. If you got a LAN? if you can throw on some network encryption that's all the better. ;)

So yeah, this guy just diddn't have an antivirus and well, sorry to say, screwed himself over.

The average user at home downloads stuff off p2p, and those are usually chunked full of viruses, especially kazaaa.
