Now I can finally get Halo 2 Vista, without paying that silly fee, it was the main reason holding me back!

Well now there's no silly gold/silver account thing, so it seems a pretty big announcement to me.

Noobtacular!

Thinking of something witty to write here since 2004...

It's cool, but I think it's still too late to save the dwindling numbers in H2V...

I think Games for Windows Live still has football stadiums of room for improvement, but Microsoft making it free is definitely something.

*forums lurch violently to one side*

What was that?!!! I think the Earth just shifted off it's axis!

That can only mean one thing...

Microsoft learned from its mistake and is changing a product.

Actually, the numbers in H2V are about the same as they were back in January when I first bought it, from what I saw yesterday. Then again, could just be a surge as a result of yesterday's announcement.

Either way, still not a lot of people playing H2V - here's hoping that changes. Had a lot of fun playing it last night.

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

Yeah, sure, make it free right after I uninstall it.

THANKS A LOT MICROSOFT.

I'm probably going to get H2V now. Even though GFWL is still trash, at least it's free trash now.

Everything in halo 2 says features are locked but once I started playing in game I was getting achievements unlocking all over the place... It had been so long since that happened I kept looking down thinking someone messaged me or some other thing like that...

H2V will still be lacking a major player base due to the pile of dung known as "problems involved with Halo 2 PC" so I have a feeling there are more people either waiting to see if Halo 3 comes out, or just sticking with the Halo:Combat Evolved that many of us have come to know and love.

Programatically invading forums.

This new marketplace thing wouid be the only reason I'd ever launch Halo 2 again.

Primus Inter Par

Microsoft learned something. I think there's a rift in the space time continuum.

It's a big step, but it's a bit late to save the game. I'll stick to Combat Evolved until they actually fix H2V.

Live for nothing die for something.

So shouldnt LIVE altogether be free now?

  • 07.24.2008 12:26 PM PDT

Let me clarify this. Everybody who was silver and gold still have silver and gold. The only thing Microsoft did was the orignal gold features free for all Games For Windows Live games

  • 07.24.2008 2:00 PM PDT

How much does this game cost in stores now anyways?

This is good. GFWL is also getting an update in the fall along with the xbox update to allow an xbox marketplace type thing in GFWL. Not sure how, and I'm too lazy to find the source.

They are trying to stab at steam, and in this day and age a pile of turd would be more user friendly than steam.

:(

Although pile of turds definitely have the simplicity and intuition of letting you play with crappy games (such as Fling the Poo, or Feces Galore), with depth and variety at the same time (there are many different variations of turds), I would have to say Steam is relatively easy to use if you have a brain.

FINALLY!
I don't have any of those games ...

And anyways, Steam isn't that bad. The only problem was the update times, which are now much shorter and less frequent. User friendliness? Wtf do you want with it?
