Ok so I love halo 2, more than halo 3 by far (I own both). Halo 2 matchmaking is (was) the best online gaming experience and its been abandoned by bungie since halo 3, which was ok for a while because they had to put a lot of attention to their new game and check that things worked out smoothly so that us gamers could enjoy and would feel satisfied after giving them our money. Thats cool, we appreciate it (I know I do). Now some of us just wanna go back and enjoy some of the old stuff! Its like an old vhs movie, you know its freakn old, all the special effects suck but still, you love it. I say all this because i used to enjoy halo 2 a lot more than i do know. What happened to renewing the matchmaking list!? Or maybe some updates? How about 1v1 again? Maybe if we are very lucky some new maps?? I dont know i guess I just want to feel that bungie is backing it up, instead it just feels like its been left to die. The updates "news" that are displayed during the machmaking menu have been the same since forever, I think everyone has re-downloaded the last map pack (which of course has no extra charge) and we all know that melee attacks have now a substantial damage bonus! Well I think the point is clear. I hope we can all post so we can get bungies attention and support on this one. Cheers.

Campiagn Kill Count :31,745. And growing.

The Revisionaries- One of the greatest screenshot groups on B.net. With 250 members and growing.

I agree completely, but I don't think it's gonna happen.

The best we can hope for is maybe a server update so matchmaking is a little quicker. Other than that, don't get your hopes up.

BUNGIE IS GARBAGE

FREE BREAD

  • 07.23.2008 2:43 AM PDT

there is no way in hell a respected game company is going to devote precious resources, funds, and effort on a four year old game for a last-generation system, when they have it's vastly superior (asthetically, numerically, AND literally) sequel, Halo 3, already out the door. They have the majority of their company tasked to other in-the-works projects as well.

Nowhere, from any angle, does it make any kind of sense for Bungie to waste time on pleasing the few thousand people left on Halo 2. I understand that some of you can't afford an xbox 360/halo 3 etc; but it's kind of the reverse situation for bungie; it's not proficiently sound to update an antiquated and truthfully ill-made game.

Yeah i kind of agree with you but its like this: Whenever you buy, say for example a laptop, it doesnt matter if your product is 2, 5 or 10 years old, whenever you take it in for repair the company has to have the parts to fix it. Its their obligation since they are offering that service in exchange for your money the day you buy it. Yeah there must be some kind of policies blah blah blah you get the point. Now, i own a 360 so thats not a problem for me but i do enjoy halo 2 more than i do halo 3 so i would at least expect the SAME (not better but the same) kind of service that they offered when new. So yeah maybe not new maps or gameplay updates, i understand that because i agree with you, but what about keeping their servers in shape, system updates, cleaning up the matchmaking system as well. I dont know, why let a great online game experience lose its greatness! Thanks for posting anyway. Peace.

Unfortunately, that's not always true. The company is not obligated to service a very old product or machine if you don't have a warranty. Most of the time its because the companies that made the parts don't make that part anymore (ex. 4 GB hard drives and Pentium processors). Microsoft can't make repairs to the old Xbox's because Nvidia stopped making the graphics chip for the motherboard.

But they do in fact maintain their Halo 2 servers. Otherwise, they would've gone down a long time ago. But doing a major overhaul to please a couple thousand players out a couple hundred thousand would not be financially sound. Bungie is a business too and they do have a budget. As much as I would like to see them fix things on Halo 2, they still have a lot of things to fix on Halo 3 and that's where most of there customer base is.

ARBITER, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S NOT BUTTER!!! WORT WORT WORT.

CS 1.6 is still going, and it's from 1998. Whoever runs the Halo 2 servers ought to pay attention to the crowd, but then again... that's not how you make the dough.

Right, because that TOTALLY plays in to proper business sense.

You are a complete moron.

Colonel Grade 2, and highest skill 18 in Halo 2 and you've played over 200 games in that playlist and only have an 18? Stop playing halo. Period.

Thanks for the 1 vs 1 playlist bungie!!(NVM ITS REMOVED ALREADY)

NO I WILL NOT JOIN YOUR GROUP IF YOU ASK ME TO

I think they need to make all slayer games BR start already. I just spent an entire game searching for a BR on sanctuary. I swear for 7 minutes I was wondering around with an smg looking for a BR, then FINALLY I kill a guy on the other team with my crappy SMG, and get killed as soon as I pick up his BR. Then I quit out lol. SMG is the dumbest starting weapon ever. I hate spawning in front of a BR guy with my SMG only to get owned while my smg is about as effective as a squirt gun.

  • 07.24.2008 4:14 PM PDT

Im a FORCE COLONEL DEAL WITH IT

It has been almost 5 years since its release its time to save up some money and buy and xbox for about 250 bucks now a days.... now if you cant afford one and need one for gas then you should not complain and deal with what you have...

First of all, i'm not going to follow the advice of a complete jackass on the forums just because my skills in a video game do not make your dick stiffen.

Not every one is born with infinite talent at games, just like everything else in the world. I've found my niche, and asses to whoever thinks i'm going to waste away my time trying to improve in it.

I play to have fun, that's what games are designed for. I feel sorry for you if you feel otherwise.

And don't give me this "well you can win money in competitionz" crap, as you and me both know neither you, me or anyone else that's replied in this forum is good enough to win money at a tournament of some sorts, MLG or otherwise.

As well, in Halo 2, I didn't play much after the last rank reset, before that I was at least a 28 in it (I don't remember exactly, it's been a while. It was definitely at least 28).

So please, get your head out of your ass and live a little.

You hate Halo 2 so much but you're still here. And exactly. They are about fun. We like this better than Halo 3. Your opinion matters to everyone right? Grow up or GTFO.

Mr Gruntsworthy made a completely valid point and all you can do is insult his player skill? That's completely beside the point. It would be foolish for Bungie to use valuable resources on an old and relatively unpopular game when they have three projects in the works. And when did he ever say he hated Halo 2? Right, never.

I think the only thing they need to do is take out a few of the playlists and stop starting games 3 on 4. Its fine for slayer but not much fun for flag games and such. The short handed team usually ends up quitting out anyway. It's a big waste of time.

It is possible that members of the Bungie staff have free time while a design is worked on for the next title. Of course that is just speculation.

You can't honestly think Bungie or M$ will want to maintain past products for remaining users. In fact they are surprised there are remaining users. In all seriousness we might get a small update if someone from Bungie tries playing Halo 2 online and notices problems and proceeds to work on them. It happened with Halo CE for windows so it might happen here as well. Otherwise you will have a better chance convincing Bungie to make a Halo 2 remake over getting them to fix the current one.

  • 07.29.2008 8:47 AM PDT

This is Likwid

That would be tight if they updated it. But yea, very doubtful. I would be happy if we jus got some more Halo 2 players.

Bungie rarely ever does things for the community if it doesn't profit them. the last thing they did was release cold storage for free, which was pretty cool. Before that, i dont even remember.. actually i remember Bungie screwing us over a few times in the past, with small makeups for it. but i completley agree with you that they should at least give halo2 a little more attention and at least change the updates when you sign in or bring out a new playlist or something.

wait!!!!!!....... since more and more ppl hate halo 3 and are going back to halo 2, lets just keep halo 2 as boring as possible so ppl will be forced to play halo 3!! ppl will also be forced to buy maps and if they dont, they only get like 4 playlists to play.. and almost everyone they play with are going to be annoying little kids with squeeky voices. "but you can mute them.." true, i can. but i shouldn't be playing an "M" rated game with kids in the first place.

GIVE HALO2 MORE ATTENTION BUNGIE!!!!!!! NEW PLAYLIST AT LEAST!!!
