I am trying to get suggestions on which HDTV will be best for Halo 2.
Since Halo 2 does not support widescreen its no big deal but...

do you think I should buy a 44" widescreen that is built better/higher quality. or buy an 55" widescreen of lesser quality.

Last I heard Halo 2 did support Widescreen, but not HDTV 720p or 1080i, only HDTV 480p.

I would go with the 44". Bigger isn't always better.

Good for you, some men feel the need to compensate.

Good question, I'm really not up on my HD just because I haven't been in the market for one just yet, but if I had to guess I'd say that it will still look good and be displayed at 480p, just not as good as it could be if the game were made to support 720p or whatever.

I can't say for certain. I think the TV model you are looking at should say if it does or does not in the TV's specs.

thanks for all the help. i am going with the 1080i mitsubishi widescreen. thanks...

I am not sure if I am the only one upgrading my equipment for halo 2. But if there are other s out there doin gthe same. then this game is even crazier than the hype that is already going on.(the gamestop next to my house has 538 preorders already).

Well if this is the case then this game is making other companies a lot of money.

I'm going to upgrade eventually. I really like this Philips 30", and Costco has it for about $800. I figure in 6 mo. I can get it for $600 or less, which will be a hell of a deal.

Here's the rule for ALL technology that is in the same realm:
Anything that's generally greater in resolution will and can support anything below it. The higher preference is what it CAN do as it's maximum capacity.

So, yes anything that is 1080i supports 480i and 720i Just because it's a resolution change which is VERY simple to do in software, and in some cases, hardware.

I generally avoid buying something I want that's 'nice' from Costco because they usually get the slightly 'lower end' products for their technology section. But to each their own!

Ah but Halo 2 is 480p, and I understand that not all 1080i sets can or do support that.
