first make sure your mobo can support the new card. Also which mobo do you have?

The x800 will not go in an AGP slot its pci-e. So you would have to get a new mobo.

sry, im still in the proccess of finding that out, its a custom mobo by dell. all i know is that i have 4 pci slots, 1 agp 4x slot :(, and a socket 478 for my cpu. the other thing is that my power supply is only 250w and i need more for that card. those @$$holes!! they make you pay so much and you can build something WAY better for half the price. (i bought this not knowing that you could build pc's on you own) it looks like to get a better graphics card in there im going to have to build a whole system from scratch.

is there a huge performance leap from 4x-8x? and is 4x like pci speed?

Yes, and I believe the new X800 AGP cards require 8x. You need aabout 400 watts nowadays to be sure, and it also needs to be a good brand.

My bad Halodude I thought the ATI x-series were strictly pci-e. Anyway it isn't designed to be backwards compatible with 4x AGP. I know Nvidia designs some of their cards that way.

Darthbob mine is my family, my car and my games(PC and PS2). I'm not really sure of the order but does it really matter.

-blam!- pot!

But back on topic, I believe the last ATi card to include AGP 4x support might have been the 9800 Pro. If not, then the 9600XT.

my mobo is a non standard mobo those -blam!- heads, now i have to either order a $200 mobo from dell or get a whole -blam!- machine. :(

i dont want to get an x800 pro an only have it operate at half its capacity
