9.5mm isn't small for a rifle - it's huge, by today's standards. And the P90 is 5.7, the MP7 is 4.6, 5mm is about average for a modern SMG.

Also, stop bumping - posting so damn much. Crap, now I'm doing it too.

althoyugh p90 has 5.7 9mm is the standard round for smg, and rifle sizes are 5.56mm and 7.62x39mm u have to factor the width too

I'm working on the assumption you would figure out that the 9.5mm's are also long rounds. And it's length, not width. I don't say the length of them because I don't know. One can pretty easily assume that battle rifle rounds would be longer than 9x19 pistol rounds. 40-50 perhaps? Considering armies use 5.56, and previously used 7.62.. 9.5 would be large.. no?
Also, 9mm SMG rounds are becoming unpopular for their weakness. Newer rounds are smaller with a higher velocity to penetrate kevlar.

the mp5 which is a 9mm, is the most succeful smg in production, 9mm arent weak, u must still be stuck in the halo 102mm rocket mindset lol

and 9mm, the BULLET size, not shell size, are measured in width

Okay.. What's your point? I mean, really. On one side you say that 9mm is small, then you go to say how good it is. A 9mm pistol round is not the same as a 9mm rifle round. The rifle has a much larger casing making the bullet go a lot faster and giving it more power. Do I need to explain how simple what I said really is? Small calibre smg rounds are a new concept which works well. More ammo and an arguably better bullet.
Anyway, I think people got confused, and to avoid more confusion, I'm not going to bother to try and correct it.
Some simple facts: A 9.5mm rifle is disgustingly powerful. The battle rifle rocks. 5mm SMG rounds are weak but you have oodles of them to fill the air with. The SMG also rocks.
There, I bothered to look it up. The SMG is 5mmx23. The Battle Rifle is 9.5mmx40. That might be 9.6, I can't read it properly. No matter. We can also assume that bullets use something more powerful than cordite in the future so modern lengths are only slightly comparible.

The Battle Rifle

The SMG

That's enough ranting from me.

Um to correct you guys here is the basic low down of the Halo bullet sizes.

SMG- 5.56mm, aka a .223 bullet, barely bigger than a pee shooter. The military uses this inside the M4
MA5B- 7.62mm, aka around a .308, very big bullet. Use inside weapons like the M249
BR- 9.75mm, aka around a .40 cal. Big bullet with good punch.
M6D- 12.7mm, aka .50 caliber, big bullet. Very big bullet.
S2 AM- 14.5mm, aka, around a .60 cal. Need I say more?

There is also the consideration that the SMG uses caseless ammo, which typicaly has a higher cyclic rate. Dual wielding SMGs means you could intoduce a 120 round cloud of high velocity lead (or maybe they use tungsten or DP in the future?) in a very short time.

I cant wait to just unload these things at a wall and see the clouds of dust and debris it stirs up. Even if it is 'only' 5mm x 23.
