In the original Halo, the energy sword "turns off." Take the example of killing a gold elite wielding the sword. It disintegrates and presumably the little handle piece is destroyed or rendered useless in the explosion/implosion. Also, in the E3 2003 demo for Halo 2, the elites that land in the pods "turn on" their swords. So, now in Halo 2, are we to assume that the weapon is broken and doesn't turn off any more? Or perhaps that the little pommel has been upgraded and is now indestructable? Whatever the case, I don't like how the whole sword, blade "turned on", sits on the ground (see E3 2004 demo). [What if someone steps on it, that'd be a nasty cut]. Perhaps this is all still on the editting table. Additionally, Should the sword have a battery with a finite life like the flashlight for instance? Your intelligent thoughts and comments are appreciated.
To clarify, I understand that you can swap the sword for your other weapon and then switch weapons which, in effect, is "turning it off". I am pointing out the fact that it seems stay "on" when it's not held by anyone.
