In a every FPS shooter i have played, the enemies never run out of ammo,i hope Halo 2 includes that,it would be a great realistic thing,And maybe you could collect some power cores for those plasma weapons?

the thing is, humans don't know how to recharge the covie's weapons. Perhaps the covanant soldiers have something in their armor that recharges their guns, like the shields recharge, and it simply doens't work with the master cheif's armor. That would give them unlimited ammo.

"The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing." Albert Einstein
"You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty." Gandhi

Good idea Kepp.

But what about the Needler?
Or the Marines?

Actually they do run out of ammo. It is just you never 'see' it. For example, when a grunt runs low on ammo, he will begin screaming and running for his life. Then when you attack him, you take his gun and find out yourself that it is low on ammo (or depleted just a little because he was too afraid to use it all). One time when I ran out of plasma for the pistol and went looking for another one and found one that was on 7. So maybe they don't run out of ammo but they don't have unlimited either. I think that MC kills them to quickly for them to use up all of their clips.

The needler, I love that weapon! I've actually seen a grunt reload his needler because I just followed him around while he shot at me. Anyone ever taken down a Hunter with a needler besides me?

Yes numerous times actually. Its not that difficult. Everyone that has played Halo for a while now knows that the hunter's weak point is their orange flesh in the neck and back of the hunter.

i know but did somebody ever really take out a hunter just by
shooting him in his neck??

  • 04.20.2004 9:14 AM PDT

bah

Yes. With a sniper rifle it's the easiest way to take them out from the front. And having enemies that run out of ammo is a bad ides. Just imagine winning becuase you waited for the enemy to run out instead of winning by skill.

hmm yes but it does happen in wars. I think it would be good to see elites over heating their weapons, but they are probably trained up so much to use it that they could take it apart and turn it into something else. Maybe the less experienced blue elites could overheat sometimes.

Good idea...the less experienced Covenant not using their weapons effectively.
It's true that we (humans) don't understand any of the Covie weapon internals, so no power cores.

For some extra realism, the human weapons could occasionally jam up, like low-battery plasma weapons sputter already. In Perfect Dark (the greatest N64 FPS BTW), bots would sometimes fiddle with their weapons in the middle of a firefight, usually saying something like "This gun is useless!"
And just think...the leader of Blue Team is ten feet from his base with your flag...you've been leading him perfectly for the last few seconds, his helmet never leaving your crosshair...you let him get just a little bit closer to make your victory sweeter, and *CLICK!* ... "Blue Team - CTF"
. . . live and learn, and then learn to kill without hesitation.

(p.m.s. - you wouldn't want to make the weapons jam very often, though. After all, it is the 24th century.)
