Anybody have any suggestions as to how you think we MIGHT find out about the Covenant homeworld? I think it lays in the prophets, considering how they can speak english, other species might be able to also. Remember the encoded transmission in The Fall Of Reach?

Perhaps one of the missions on SP will be to get a tracking device on a transport covenant ship, and then they follow it back to the covenant home world.

yea, they put a tracking device on us(The Fall Of Reach), and i think that may be how they found out earth, so if we done the same, then we could find the Covenant Homeworld!

Maybe we get in from a Covenant Cruiser thats been disabled. On the E3 2003 demo Cortana mentions that she disabled a Covenant Cruiser, heck the mission in the demo was to get to it. And why would you want to find it? There might be a different reason but personally I think its to get the Covenant Homeworld location

or get somewhere close to it, if the dropship is disabled is it able to move still?

  • 06.27.2004 12:35 PM PDT

Yay!

the mission on first strike was to take a covenant crusier and try to find the homeworld but obviously that didnt happen maybe thats a mission in halo 2

  • 06.27.2004 12:59 PM PDT

wait a minute, I thought that was a prophet. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't ever remember reading in the Fall of Reach that there were engineers.

Halo 2 starts at the end of Halo 1

It starts after TFS (The First Strike) because I dont see how the humans can equip their whole military with the new BR if it was right after Halo!

wait a minute, I thought that was a prophet. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't ever remember reading in the Fall of Reach that there were engineers.

In that part of the book, Halo: The Fall of Reach, it was describing a Covenant Engineer. I'll quote this directly from the book.

" Something else caught his attention, though. There were other aliens on the sidewalk-or rather, above the sidewalk. They were roughly man-size creatures-unlike any he had ever encountered. The creatures were vaguely sluglike, with pale, purple-pink skin. Unlike other Covenant forces, they were not bipeds. Instead, they had several tentacular appendages sprouting from their thick trunks.
They floated a half meter above the ground, as if the odd, pink bladders on their backs kept them aloft. One alien used a slender tentacle to open the hood of a car. It began to disassemble the car's electric engine, moving with startling speed." (page 183)

The Prophets use a device that allows them to float above the ground, but notice how the book describes the aliens that the Master Chief sees as being able to float with simply their bladders? Besides, I don't think the Prophets would resort to doing the dirty work that they can simply let the others do. That and one other difference separates them from the engineers: the Engineers have tentacles while the Prophets do not, to the best of my knowledge. Hope that helped clear some things up. =)
