Like many of you, I'm completely obsessed with Halo. I've beaten the game a donzen times on every difficulty, read all the novels, and check this website daily for any small little sliver of new Halo 2 stuff. So I'm thinking about joining a league. The only prolem is I don't know where to begin. I don't know how many leagues there are, which one are the more legit ones, how leagues in Halo are roganized, or anything else for that matter. The only league I have ever been in was for Mechwarrior 4/Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries [NBT-4/NBT-Mercs for any fello players]. That league was a role play league, it closely followed the timeline and history of the battletech universe, and teams chose factions in the universe to become. Ther was also a lot of heavy role play involved (get ur minds out of the gutter :-P).

I doubt one could expect that for Halo, but I'm curious to see whats out there and if myt fello community members could point me in the right direction..

The best online and LAN Halo teams play the Cyberathlete Amateur League (CAL). Its parent is the Cyberathlete Professional League (CPL), which is hosting a $50,000 LAN tournament next month. CAL and CPL play host to other games, like Counter Strike, Call of Duty, Unreal Tournament, etc., and many players and teams are considered "professional" actually earning small salaries for playing the video game they are good at.

Another online league with lesser skilled teams is at Team Warefare League (TWL).

There is a 1v1 Slayer ladder at Team Warfare, so if that's what you're into, then definitely check it out. CAL is more for teams. I'm not sure if you're in a clan, but if so then you might want to start out at Team Warfare then move to CAL, because CAL is way more competitive than TWL (I only know because my clan is in both, and it's just way more competitive in CAL).
