I still don't understand. So, what your saying is, you basically gave us 2 ranks for ranked playlists, and a rank for social. Now what I want to know is, why does social need ranks? Wasn't that the whole point of social? No skill ranks?

It's not a "Skill" rank. The little fancy emblem next to your name is NOT a Skill value. It never has been, that "skill" is something the Community ascribed to it. The "Skill" is the number next to your name in a Ranked playlist. And that value is nonlinear, not intended for everyone to reach level 50 and is primarily used to match you against players.
So basically, this new playlist rank is a way for us to evaluate other people?

Also, in ranked playlists, will matchmaking match people based on a complex combination of playlist rank and skill level? Or just skill level, and playlist rank is a way to evaluate how much you've played that certain playlist?

Thanks again, Luke.

Shmokin a pancake

THIS is why they need to open up console games to mods. I am tired of not getting player created content. I think UT3 on the PS3 went the right way, and I wish more games (or rather a certain Software giant *cough*MS*cough*) would start offering that sorta crap. Not only does that mean the player gets more out of it, but you don't have to put the resources into stopping modding. If UT3 can do it, otehr games can too!

As for nude forge stuff... Halo 3 is a Mature game, can't you just put a mature sticker on it and call it good? Jeez. I don't understand this crap. Maybe they should just make forge AO, then we can do what ever we want. It is pretty sad if your making nude crap just to be funny or cause your lonely, but I know a guy who is a real artsy type looking for alternate mediums, and he uses Forge for some pretty neat stuff.

I hope some good stuff comes our way though. Theses last few updates haven't been terribly thick on content. AU ftw though,

....spongy, bungie, who cares? I got mine!

I understand it perfectly, it just doesn't sound like a good idea, I could be wrong once it's implemented. But I don't think I'll stay around to long if it's how I think it's going to be.

I hate to say that because I love Halo and everything. But hey, this year is a great year with alot of amazing Titles being released, maybe enough to tie me over until Bungie's next game?

I mean, this rating system would have been Great if it was what was initially released, but we all are so used to the current one, It's going to mess with my head.

Lukems, the biggest thing I do not get is how is this going to benefit us players?

It's a refresh on the experience that rewards players both for playing their favorite playlists and exploring Matchmaking in general. What's not to get?

Not one joke about Water on Mars or Brett Favre and the Vikings.

Lukems, quick question-
My rank is currently general grade 2, after the AU2 goes into effect, will the GG2 emblem still appear next to my name in pre game lobbies or will it just be on my service record?
I'm used to getting all of the attractive women because of the General emblem. Are you saying that because of this new rating system, I won't get women?

He's trying to say that ranks suck compared to what he thinks could've been in AU2.

But is it going to change how fast our level changes? For instance is this being used to fix things such as "I played 40 games and haven't ranked up. What gives Bungie?"

Thats not the point.
1. The FIle Share content was illegally uploaded, as in BREAKING THE LAW. It was addressed as it should have.
2. The Terms of Use that you agreed to specifically prohibits the creation/sharing of Immature Content.
"Slapping on a Mature Sticker" would not be an appropriate fix.

"Seems to me you should spend less time on that article and more time working on that novel you've been working on!!!"

Gasp! it is a palindrome...
Cool update on some of the things you've been doing. Maybe next week you'll talk about even more things you've been doing. You know what I mean, eh Bungie? Ya I know we're on the same page, our thoughts like one. I like the new ranking thing for each playlist, more reason for us to mix things up and give other things a try. Change can be a scary thing, but taking risks will lead to uncontrollable urges for mongolian bbq. Delicious...

What i would like to know is the xp for the ranks diffferent now? In the picture it shows 100+ numbers for lower ranks (previously around 20) So has it changed?

  • 08.01.2008 6:22 PM PDT

Enough about skill level.. that really gets annoying after it has been explained twice. Even though it was not mentioned... talked around.. but not mentioned, when is the AU2 going to hit? Can't wait to see what has been fixed/improved upon.

So wait you can be a General in any playlist after a whole bunch of experience is earned in that playlist... but you won't be a General in your players service record AND you will still be matched up according to your "skill level".

So what the is the point in adding this all new system? It sounds purely cosmetic to me? Is it solely to add replayability to people who can easily hit 50?

I don't want random messages (ie, Join my group, etc). I have begun blocking solicitations.

Read all the gold text posts thus far. One of them says "your playlist based rank is based upon how much experience you've gained in that playlist". The true skill system remains the true skill system.

I COMPLETELY agree, it's way too late for new ranks, IMO.

So Lukems, if I was a general in Lone Wolves, and ONLY Lone Wolves, what would show up next to my name in a theatre lobby?

(Please tell me if I'm understanding this ALL wrong.)

And:wouldn't this au2 kill double exp weekends?

And did you do this just to get rid of Neg Exp Boosters?
