Do you think that there are going to be pistols for Halo 2? Like the same ones as First Strike?

Enough with the pistols, yes there will be pistols, and it is speculated they will no longer zoom.

BOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! LEAVE THE PISTOLS LIKE THEY ARE!!!!!! THE BEST WEAPON IN THE GAME. OR REPLACE THEM WITH SOMETHING JUST AS GOOD.

Leave all weapons as they are (exlcuding the M6D inside MP, it needs to be made as strong as it is within campaign mode). If they do that then the Halo 2 weapons balance will remain balanced.

Yeah I love the pistol as well, my favorite weapon, but from what I have heard is that Bungie realized that people who didnt have the skill to use the pistol got completly worked and so by taking the zoom away it balanced the gameplay better, and it is possible that the battle rifle might take the role of the pistol

Actually that doesn't sound like solving any problems.

Think about this. You have one weapon that can work at close and long range, the Battle Rifle. Now not everyone can get to this gun in time. So those without a Battle Rifle are screwed over. But if the M6D is involved things are different. You then have another weapon that can counter this new Battle Rifle threat and vice versa. So the two balance each other out. The same applies to the MA5B and Sub Machine Guns as they are almost as equally powerful(with the SMG being a bit weaker due to smaller round size of course).

I don't think it will solve problems, I don't like it, I just have heard this is what's happening and why

I hated the pistols in multiplayer for Halo. They killed way too fast. If there's going to be pistols in Halo2 they better not hurt as much.

If you read the books you'll know theyll hurt but be less accurate

That's where the Covenant Carbine comes in. IMO, the M6D was really unbalanced in MP because of the 3 hit kills, and the ability to do that from across 2/3 of Blood Gulch. IMO, they should just leave out a pistol because Halo doesn't need it. I just can't see it being very useful. If there is a pistol, however, I have complete faith in Bungie to make it balanced with everything else.

That is the new pistol you are referring to. He is referring to the old one, the M6D. Which I believe should and will make it in. The thing is Bungie on purposely made the M6D more powerful inside multiplayer. If you've actually tried counting within campaign mode then you'd know that it takes some 7-8 shots to kill the Chief. Whether or no those shots are directly to the head. Basically what they need to do is within Multiplayer make the M6D a bit more powerful then the current campaign from Halo 1, but less powerful then the current M6D within multiplayer. That will balance everything out.

There is another balance right there. I honestly don't know what is your peoples' problem with having all the old weapons along with the new. If anything the more the better.

Well, in Bungie's intense drive for a perfect game they have examined their previous game. I love the pistol in Halo MP, but only because it is completely unrealistic. Pistol is not a long range weapon in most cases, especially one that doesn't have a scope on it, this one zoomed but no scope, how's that work? I agree with the idea that it should be modified, and I am really looking forward to the battle rifle, something more useful then the old rifle. Something the Chief would actually use.

They should jsut take the M6D out. With the new battle rifle, covenant carbine, and submachine gun it will be balanced. The reason it will be balanced this way is because with the dual weapon the submachine gun, needler, and the plasma rifle/pistol (i think) will be able to be dual carried. That certainly will average out with the sniper rifle, shotgun, rocket launcher, covenant carbine, and battle rifle, because of the high yields of fire possible.

Okay, I'm pretty sure you've all seem the Halo 2 demo for E3. The battle rifle will probably take the place of the pistol. And that probably will have just as much firepower. Another weapon will probably be those SMGs. But the pistol sniping 3 shot kills, that really takes a lot of skill. So the ones who always take only 3 shots will probably be like super pro people who would be even better at the Assault Rifle if the pistol never existed and the Rifle was all that they had. But since the pistol will not be removed, start practicing more with it! If you can't beat it join it! Remember to aim higher and don't just run straight at your opponent. Pay attention to who repeatedly kills you and what they are doing. If they're simply shooting faster than you, strafe.

Finally someone of intelligence(in my humble opinion) on the M6D and on the non-removal of the weapon.

I don't think the weapon should be removed whatsoever however in an update a few weeks ago it contained this ..."I also animated the first-person CENSORED (both single and dual shot), so that should be in the game and working now…it looks pretty cool, but it’s definitely a lot weaker than CENSORED and it has CENSORED now, so people are probably going to CENSORED and CENSORED. Oh well, all’s fair in the cruel world of gameplay balance."
It seems that he is talking about the battle rifle at first, and then talking about the pistol, and it no longer having zoom capability

Here was a tranlstion of that exact quote I found on halo.bungie.org's forum.

" I also animated the first person human pistol (both single and dual shot), so that should be in the game and working now...it looks pretty cool, but it's definitely a lot weaker than in Halo 1 and it has a silencer now, so people are probably going to complain and cheer. Oh well, all's fair in the cruel world of gameplay balance. "

The pistol was overpowered, I ran threw blood gulch and whiped out an entire team in one match... I think at the end of the game it was like 35 to 7... Actually it was more kills....

" I also animated the first person human pistol (both single and dual shot), so that should be in the game and working now...it looks pretty cool, but it's definitely a lot weaker than in Halo 1 and it has a silencer now, so people are probably going to complain and cheer. That's what I've heard it as..

If Bungie puts the M6D pistol in Halo 2, then they should leave it unchanged. If they do change it, then they should name it the M7D, or something like that.

The zoom worked through a link in your helmet. If you read the books it explains all about that. All the zoom on the pistol does is magnify the image displayed in your helmet, or something like that.

If you guys have a problem with people like me killing you in just a few shots that you can't tell where there coming from because your to stupid to move and find the shooter, then either turn up the health or suck up and deal. If you think long-range pistol freaks are annoying then try playing with a good sniper. Trust me, the abnormally good snipers are more annoying.
