I'm thinking of a list of blocked users that works much like the one you use to block messages from some users. You just don't see anything posted by the people on your list. You'd have one list for posts and another for topics. I'll be back to see what people think tomorrow.

Isn't it just as easy to check who posted, and just skip to the next one?

Yes I realize that. No idiot actually reads through all the crap the spammers post, I hope.

well, they can just spam in the replies.

i guess it would be nice, but its too hopeful considering the spammers will find a way to spam regardless of the rules and stuff put in place.
to me, spammers are my lost sheep. a good ole beating puts em back in place.

I think that it would be great to be able to ignore completely what certain people say; kind of like a "mute" button. But the problem with that is that some people wouldn't have them muted, and maybe they'd answer them.. and then everyone would be confused because someone might quote a commonly muted person.

There's no way around it - there will be spam-nerds on forums. That's the purpose of Moderators; let them do their job. ;]

Also, you mute someone who gets banned; then they create a new name and you have the same person blocked eight times. Why bother?
