Well when you have a community being used by hundreds of thousands of members, things are bound to get a little slow. Stop whining and be thankful we even HAVE forums.

It's all about traffic and server load. Sure, feature-wise these forums are pretty dull, but it's part of a website that gets a lot more traffic than the average site. (From the XBL stats to Groups to public forums, the site has a lot going on.)

Also, the Septagon is the appropriate place for website or community related topics.

Why is it that Bungie cannot make forums where the boards update consitently each time you refresh your screen. A person can post inside a thread multiple times and you'll see no apparent activity till 10 or 15 minutes later. So why hasn't Bungie fixed this. This is actually the reason I've always stuck with other sites versus the official Bungie slash now Microsoft site.

Rather than accessing the database for every single request, a cache is used. This is updated frequently, and you access the cached version. However, during heavy load, this can take a few mintues.

Incidentally, this was also apparent in the old crapness, although that presented a nice message to you saying that your post would appear shortly.

I don't really mind it, I think someone needs to take his ridilin. Or you could swim, that too, but after all that DOES make you lose pounds while eating whatever you want and not replacing sugar or carbs(AKA energy for your body) with plastic chemicals. AKA get used to it and don't complain. It'll be fixed soon enough.

Thanks for moving this to the proper forum chris. So is Bugnie going to make, the cache file virtually realtime updated with say a cycle time of 1 to 5 seconds ever? I would just like to know that's all.

The cache time will be tweaked to balance performance and quality. It would unlikely be reduced to "virtually real-time" because that would hit performance too much.

Oh thanks for the quick reply back. Hmm? Well I guess things shall remain the way they are then. Will have to wait for better programming or technology lol. Ah well.

How come Bungie can't just add another serer? Would that help, like holding all the info and would it help compensate for all the activity this site gets?
