IAm some what of a halo Nut as im sure most of you are, I’ve read the books from over to cover multiple times, im collecting the toys, and other various things.

Because of my love for the 'extended universe' that has been spawned from halo, i have my doubts for the sequel, im worried that, it will become 'just another shooter'. for a moment could i refer you to the American rating of Deus EX 2 it got a 'mature' rating, not because of the gameplay mechanics but because of its content IE its plot. Im worried that Bungie will have to tone down what we fans want from the plot side of things, i personally want to see the fate of humanity to hang in the balance, i want to see the MC fighting for this life trying to save a planet he has real connections from, i want this game to challenge everything we humans believe in be it life or religion, i started to see these challenges appear in the books, but I am not convinced that these challenges will make it to my screen. The problem with the games industry nowadays is that it makes games constantly for 15 years old games, games that require not though processes at all, i want halo2 to be more i want it to make you think, i want Halo2 to take you on a Rolla coaster ride of plot twists, explosions and gorgeous visuals, my dreams for Halo2 are somewhat vivid, but i believe that if any company can challenge the way the games industry makes games and they way people games its Bungie’s they've been in the industry for quite a while I am sure the seniors who have been in the industry have seen this current trend of games not being challenging at all.

Does anyone feel the same way?

ive seen wonderous things of halo, visuals and all, this game could be the best game ever but...in my opinion in all lies in the hands of bungie, its up to them how they make it the best, i think imay have built my hopes up a little too much about the game, i may not have, i turst bungie will do the right thing, but will they do the right thing that will please the mass public or the hardcore fans or try to cater for both? Many of my questions will be answered a couple of weeks after the release of the game.

Halo2 has tough compettion, and i fell that the 3 main sequels this (Halo2 Half-Life2 and Doom3) the one that will be seen as the best of the bunch will be the one who challeneges the current status quo thats in my opinion is destorying the creativity of the games industry.

we need a developer on here to ask his/her opinion on whether the games industry is going down hill....and of course whether halo2 will prove that games and crativity go hand in hand once again...sorry but us fanboys cannot answer this question we simply have to much of a on sided view on games in general.

How can any of you say wether bungie have or havn't "screwed up" yet. Unless you work there, have seen Halo 2 in action or bribed one of their employee's, it's impossible to know WHAT they have in store.

Sure, I have faith in Bungie, but I don't have any hopes nor dreams of what the game will be because i've been dissapointed too many times in the past.

True ive been disapointed by developers promises of granduar and "best game ever" reviews, for example Farcry all that game proved to me is that there are games comming out, thats are goign to look amzin nothing else...all it is, is a collection of technlogies, nothing else but yet people go crazy for it, games need more than that now!! Games need substance or there not going to to stand the test of time, games cannot be made like they were 20 years ago, massive amounts of money is involved now, and the problem we are now faced with is "safe option games" games that require no think just mindless destruction, "games for 1 year olds" bascially no offence if you are 15 but, games are now catered for your age group, this is where the money is, as long as this continues games are going to get boring really fast, and its up to the developers with balls to challenge this trend, i hope bungie are one of those developers, i hop microsoft will allow them to challenge it.

An army of sheep led by a lion would defeat an army of lions led by a sheep.

Not worried. If they dissapoint, I'll find another game. ; ) Bungie should do the worrying for me, after all, that's what they get paid for.

Here is a better suggestion. Think about Halo 2. Read the books (excluding the Flood), play the game, memorize them, love them. Watch the E3 trailer for Halo 2 and the Announcement trailer. Both will change your mind. Also read the weekly updates and such. But don't expect the world through out all of this. Also play Halo 2 before those other games you mentioned. It might help with you with your doubts by seing it before them...better yet forget about those other games entirely. They never exsisted and never will exsist.

I've read one of the books and am a great Halo fan. Which is why i'm holding my anticipation back. I don't want to be dissapointed.

But that doesn't mean I don't have hope.

In regards to the actual topic of this thread...
I think Bungie are in a tight spot. They can't exactly develop for a niché market, they need to have broad horizens. I think its safe to assume the books will be referenced, but not relied on. Their main target is still likely to be the casual gamer.

The first one was, and we loved that, so why not the second?

True he as already lost that one place, but Earth is still a place where he has connections he has duty...he's a man bound to his military objectives...and one of those objectices is save earth so thats where i was going with that.

and im not willing to just forget about those other games, how can anyone really? i was expecting some intelligent replies out of this, maybe some insight into how everyone felt about the current trend in games...but i guess not.

Ah the casual gamer, perhaps one of the most targeted consumer base...for sequel it is my opinion the casual gamer should be almost forgotten, if the original was good enough to get a sequel then the casual gamer should be already catered for plus word of mouth alone would sell the game...if the original was good enough.
With Halo this is ture, the original games was perhaps one of the best FPS to emerger since Half-Life, The HALO series now has a very loyal fan base, and even has its own extended universe, so Bungie will to get the sales, cater for a wider audience, than they would norally for a sequel, alot of hype is surrounding the 3 main sequels, and onyl one will come out top, my bet at the moment is Half-Life2. I am looking forward to halo2 more but Half-Life2 will come out on top.

i know my spelling is bad my gramma sucks balls, i will go through it and clean it up, im sorry if im annoying anyone with it.

Can't you proof-read before you post? You want an intelligent game, but your post makes you look moronic.

That was unnecessary, Chubbs.

Zaine, to answer your question, here's how I look at things.

I like Halo. A lot. It's one of my favorite games. When I look at my list of all time favorite games, Halo is there, up close to the Marathon series. I consider that, and I think to myself "Wow, Bungie REALLY knows what they're doing."

And that's the point one should keep in mind. Bungie knows what they're doing. Trust that they know how to make a good game, as they've done it repeatedly in the past.

I think we have all had our doubts about halo2, but when we see those screens and renders, all fear of a crappy game goes away. and zaine, why are you trying to freak everyone out by saying that games are tailored for babies and all games are crappy now. whats the deal?

That's a very good point.

Granted they could pull it off, but have they ever had a corperate giant breathing down their neck to create the next flagship title of a console, before?

Things are quite different now to how they have been in the past...

Right so im moronic because i have problems spelling right...go screw yourself if you can add anything with an ounce of intelligence don’t bother posting.

Anyway, you have a point there tbh Shishka, bungie have made some of my favourite games, most of them sequels, i just feel that there is alot can be done with this game alot can be achieved, is it not bugging you all the mindless games that are getting released today, you look at the "Marathon" series and you compare it to some of the -blam!-e that is released nowadays, games are going down hill creatively, so much can be down now becuase of how technology has grown but the industry is scared of making mistakes, with Bungies background in making great games, i dont think they should be scared and should challnege the status quo in fact all the developers should!!

Im trying to get everyone "to see the light "before its to late, the amjority of gamers play games to relax and escape reality, but as technology gets better and better its un-avoidable that we will want more, wnat things to be faster look better, but games dont seem to be doing that, its the same crap thats being reproduced over and over again...im not trying to scare anyone i just want people to see that games can be alot better, A HELL OF ALOT BETTER, but untill some developer ges the guts to do it, we are stuck with games like devil may cry, and the getaway.

zaine, i appreciate your desire for a deep and intelligent game, and maybe i am saying this because i am "only sixteen" but even if the plot is not all that is expected, i think halo 2 will still be an AMAZING game, you cannot forget multiplayer. That is one of the biggest draws, and the most entertaining part(in my opinion) of halo. And there is absolutely no plot in multiplayer. I agree, a good story is an important trait for modern games, but if the plot is not what's expected, it does not mean that you have a mediocre game.

Very true, but the plot of halo is what kept me going, i like to have reasons for doing things in games halo game me reasons in plot form, and what made it even more special were the methods you could use to finish that objective halo was a combination of factors that made it great game, and why i still play it today.

The Multiplayer option in games is becoming used more and more now, and with the option to go live with the xbox its only going to get better so multiplayer is going to a major factor in the next generation of games, and yes the halo multiplayer is brillaint and is played by hundreds of people.
Buts its my opinion that before games companies start delving into the world of multiplayer they should sort our singleplayer first.
