What I would like to see next is that halo servers start sending kills, deaths, assists and game status (playing/ended) arrays. Main reason is for clan usage.
All these are needed in order to keep track of your overall score automatically.
This information is not send by the server! Please put this in next ^_^

Here is the info you can get using a server query

Array
(
[0] => Array
(
[num_players] => 14
[players] => Array
(
[0] => Array
(
[player] => BCAero
[score] => 46
[ping] =>

)

(
[player] => BCHarkonnen
[score] => 29
[ping] =>
[team] => 3
)

[2] => Array

[score] => 13

[3] => Array

[player] => VGvoldefart
[score] => 12
[ping] =>
[team] => 5

[score] => 5
[ping] =>
[team] => 8

[7] => Array
(
[player] => (VG)Turnkey
[score] => 34
[ping] =>
[team] => 9
)

[8] => Array
(
[player] => sploogie
[score] => 13
[ping] =>
[team] => 10
)

[9] => Array
(
[player] => Blasters
[score] => 25
[ping] =>
[team] => 11
)

[10] => Array
(
[player] => ÃikËm°
[score] => 17
[ping] =>
[team] => 12
)

[11] => Array
(
[player] => neco95
[score] => 8
[ping] =>
[team] => 13
)

[12] => Array
(
[player] => The Light
[score] => 10
[ping] =>
[team] => 14
)

[13] => Array
(
[player] => sarge
[score] => 3
[ping] =>
[team] => 15

)

As you can see only player name, score, ping and the team a players is on are send.
Would appreciate it if kills, death, assists, game status are send as well.
Let me know if it's possible to do so.

Sean Aero: That's a little overkill right there. I don't think anyone would be arsed enough to implement something like that at all, or even find any reason to. I mean, it took a game-killing exploit just for someone to get this done xD

It actually wouldn't be hard or time consuming to do. It'd just be sorting out the fact that the game only partially adheres to the Gamespy protocol.

Like I said in his other post though, it'll never happen. :(

Well I figured since this sawnose person is patching somethings in halo pc I figured he could have a look at the Gamespy protocol as well. That's the main reason why I posted this message here as well. Besides it never hurts to give it a try () : )

v1.08 Patch is a Accumulative Patch right?

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Yes, it's a cumulative patch. You can upgrade to it from any version.

It sounded more like a "ohshi- we gotta pump-out a patch to fix a game-breaking exploit.. oh, and you don't need the disc to play anymore." kind of thing, rather than a cumulative update.

But then again, what do I know?

Thanks, I know about the no-CD portion of the patch a while back, was just wondering about said question.

Heres a question I've been meaning to ask...

Has anyone had a problem with the new patch where randomly it'll force your computer to crash... I've never had a problem with halo in the past but recently I'd be playing and all of a sudden the screen goes black, it plays the same sound over and over again, and my computer starts whirring like its working a ridiculous amount of processes and such...

I figured I'd ask since this hasn't happened since the 1.08 patch and my computer has handled way worse games like Crysis, H2V, Guild wars, and Shadowrun. Plus, I've heard one of my other clan mates had a similar problem so I think it may be software bug. =\

The only other reason I can think of as of now is it might be xfire-vista-halo issue causing a clash with the Halo software but I'm testing several times with xfire and several times with the pidgin plugin to prove that theory.

Aww crap. Patched the game, connected to a server... Crash. Had to close Halo with Task Manager... only, it's still in the processes tab and i can't "close" it... So i'm pretty much stuck here as i can't close it and the game refuses to launch due it running already.
Reboot will fix this naturally but if this happens again...
Using Vista, no hardware problems, enough power to run game on max settings and still smooth gameplay.

Crap. Happened again (PC, not custom edition BTW).... This problem may be my laptop's though... BF42, AvP2 and Battlefront 2 crash on server search/refresh part... and require reboot to get rid of black box whichs one quarter of the screen's size. This problem with Halo just happens when connecting to a server and doesn't leave the black box. *sigh*

When I try to run the dedicated server app it tells me that the .dll is missing. Is there something I can download to fix this?

Does the dedicated server tell you which dll is missing? If it does not your best option is to reinstall the dedicated server and maps and possibly Halo: PC as well.

Thanks for the patch, but the lack of backward compatibility is really going to cause a lot of trouble.

There are a lot of Halo servers that will be slow to update and will be completely unavailable to anyone who accepts the client auto-update tomorrow. The community will be split in two!

Also, does this mean Mac users will be out of luck (no more Halo!) unless / until there is a compatible Mac patch? When might that happen??

Less serious, but this also creates a temporary chicken or egg problem with patch installs between users and servers. If you patch your server ahead of time (like today), hardly any users will be able to join it. So you really can only patch AFTER the auto-update is released, and you'd better do it pronto or soon you'll have very few users (only Mac users?) able to play on your 1.07 server.

I simply fail to see why it was necessary to add this complication... leave the backward compatibility in place. Hosts will update their servers when they get a chance... why artificially force the lack of backward compatibility and create the needless chaos that is going to start on Friday when loads of servers will become unavailable for play?

Macs...if you wanted to play video games why did you buy a mac? It's like buying a sedan and being upset when it can't go 4 wheel driving off road...

Did you remember to put the dedicated server inside the halo or halo ce folder?
