Hey guys... time to make a topic about what you all and I think Bungie has instore for us. AI wise, yes both enemy and ally. I just thought some of these up quickly I'll try to put more up if ya guys get interested. Here they are
Strategies and Formations
Covenant
British Square- Used in many old British Empire battles biggest success was Waterloo. Could be used in a last ditch effort when surrounded or being rushed. They would form a sqaure facing outward with 2 rows of overlapping shelds, 1 row on bottom 2nd row on top. Then the Brutes behind them lobbing new grenade weapon over Jackals raining hell on the Marines outside, the blue Elites behind Brutes organizing and spotting troop movemnt, then comes the red Elites, then the last ling of defence Gold Elites protecectwhatever they are protecting in the middle (perhaps Prophet or maybe ancient artifact)
Phalanx- Used first by the Spartans against the Persians but the Romans had adapted the formation as well. This could be used for advancing on a foritied position. Form rectangular shape sheilds infront, above and beside the slowly approaching force. Have other forces creeping inside the formation such as Elites or Brutes. When the or if the Jackals reach the target they disperse and let Elites and Brutes spread through the enemy formation.
Humans
Creeping Barage- First used by Canadians in WWI in the battle of Vimy Ridge. Used in offesive situations charging foritified locations. Infanrty would begin a charge while artillery would fire round only 50 feet infront of the charging force creating a smoke screen of sorts while disorientating, wounding or killing the dug in enemy force.
Both
Retreat- We know that the AI will do this. Usually retreating when outnumbered or sevearly wounded.
Reinforcements- Both friendly and enemy AI will call for back up when in need of support. Whether it be air bombartment, artillery, troop, anit-air the whole lot.
Persue- Retreating troops can and most likely will be persued out of designated "loading" areas at all times.
(Those last three Strategies are the only three, as far as I know, that are confirmed)
Tricks
Covenant
Sacrifice- The Covenant would send Grunts in first to a battle ground or to assualt a Human fortification. While the Humans have their priority set on killing hundreds upon hundreds of Grunts in the massive wave the rest of the Covenant force Jackals, Brutes, and Elites flank the Humans.
Human
Distraction- Much like the Covenant "Sacrifice" trick, a small force of a firing team would strike the Covenant head on, hopefully not exceeding high causualties, the rest of the force would flank the destracted Covenant force and stirke at different locations.
Both
Hit and Run- Basically self explanitory. Usally a small force hits the enemy hard and fast and retreating before the enemy knew what had hit them. Covenant woudl be able to utilize their new and improved Ghost. While the Humand would get to try out their good ole All Terrain Vehichle (ATV) and sometimes even using a Warthog.
Lure- Lures could be set up to lure an anxious foe into a trap, whether it be moving in to surround them or crossfires. The lure would draw attention to itslelf and run in and past the 'kill-zone' drawing the greedy enemy in to the trap. The Covenants lure could be a group of Grunts or Jackals running around a corner out of sight. Humans lure could be be a small grouno of wounded Marines trying to get away or perhaped even a Spartan that is playing dead, the Covenant woulndn't be able to resist the technology (Cortana even said the Covenant were immitative not innovative).
Most of these situations could be used in major epic scale batles but some can be used in smaller magnitude of gunfights. Thats all for me feel free to add you own situations because I will think up of more. I hope ya liked it. Peace
