Ok, we KNOW bungie's style. There is no way there will be a pelican in MP. That would make the Banshee look like a plasma pistol next to a fuel rod. It would be WAY too cheap. If there are 3 enemies standing right there, you could just land on them! And the fire power of a pelican will be enough to destroy a team of 16 in a mater of seconds (if they are clustered together)! And besides, it would take millions of years to blow up! No, Bungie doesn't do that. As for the phantom, it's a possibility, but a longshot. Believe me, Pelican won't be fun in multiplayer. Nobody liked the Banshee in Halo PC because it was too cheap. Well, in Halo 2 Banshees won't be cheap, because they are destructible, and so are pelicans, but pelicans would take like 2 or 3 rocket launcher shots! And thats just if you make the shots! and because you have to reload, by the time you're trying to fire a third shot you'll be fried! No, its too cheap. Just forget about it. But it would be fun for SP.

I belive that a warthog takes about 3 or 4 shots with a rocketlauncher to destroy... your estamate of 2 or 3 rockets is way under. Also the pelican doesn't have any wepons.

What about some sort of flying transport, real weak to balance it out and only holds four passangers.

you have appeared to have forgotten about the tank and the new rocket launcher warthogs and the shadow and the tracking feature on rocket launchers and finally halo 2 will have area specific damage which means you can shoot the pelicans fuel tank and the whole thing might explode

Still. It seems way to cheap. I would never use a pelican in MP. it could probably flip a tank by just going at it at full speed.

the MP maps are mostly indoor so think no there will be no Pelican's in MP mode, As far as the SP goes I also think no, they will probly just transport you from A 2 B. It is also a possibility that there will be a chaingun witch will be attched to the back of the pelican for coverfire ;)

In Game Informer it looks like most of the Maps will have an outdoor and indoor section?

They could balance it by making the Pelican less manueverable and slow.

I saw this in another thread, and I think it would be a good idea if they made the Pelican / Phantom come in to drop new vehicles, after they have been destroyed (instead of the basic respawn). Players probably wouldn't be able to drive them, though.

yea having a pelican is too unbalanced i think they should make a smaller aircraft for humans since theyve stolen so much covie -blam!- they can build their own. look what they did with mjolnir armor.

I dont think the pelican is unbalenced IF they make it a flying target as in making it move really slow, giving it no weapons and only able to carry 4 troops at once BUT the 2 people right next to the door should be able to shoot they're weapons.....that way it would be balenced in my oppinion.....

The pelican has 2 guns ;) . Chin mounted LAAG gun (or equivelent to) and a rear mounted weapon.

That's a great idea! Think in slayer if someone grabbed a flying vehicle to give themselves an advantage everyone would immeadeatly stop fighting and concentrate their fire on the banshee or pelican.

Yeah! But which ship would land for each team? Some teams will have a mix of Spartans and Elites.

i think they could make it balanced and work fine. if you have ever played battlefield 1942, just because you have a vehicle with rockets and guns and stuff doesnt mean your invunerable at all.

well i heard the maps will be BIG and if they use their programing right they can make it realllly big. Think Operation flashpoint for example. Anyway, when the maps are big transport does play an important role. Here is how the pelican could be balanced out.

-No weapons except chain gun at the back which is no stronger than the warthogLAAG. Warthog LAAG is good but it will be less useful for pelicans as it shakes a bit more and the gun will only be able shoot straight down when the pelican is tilted about 35 degrees upwards.

-8 people (except crew and gunner) will be able to ride it. if less than that people will just use the warthog for transport.

-speed a bit better than warthog but not as fast as a ghost which is boosting.

-make the banshees a bit faster so they can catch up with pelicans. not win a rece against them though. maybe when boosting.

-2 to 4 rocket shots to destroy one, 1 (straight into the cockpit) to 2 shots of the scorpion cannon.

-able to carry a vehicle but this will obviously effect the back-gunner greatly and will basicly cover most of his firepath.

-2 guys closest to the door still able to throw grenades and shoot for a fun idea (passing over a HQ while throwing grenades everywhere, creating havoc)

- a couple of maps where team work and transport is crucial like a cluster of islands maybe, where you have to capture all islands.

and there you have it. a good,fun and balanced pelican. enjoy.

think for a second, even if the pelican wasnt there there will be troop carriers, e.g. cov bus transport and maybe troophog and these will have the same problems, but seeing as this is MP for 16 ppl then some kind of transport is needed, especially for CTF (how many times have u run the whole way from blue to red base and been shot in the back by sniper :P. the pelican has a chain gun on the back (according to the story boards, sp dont blast me if im wrong) but i dont lnow how if it will be in the final, hell nobody knows what the final game will be like
