Not only for Vista, Windows XP is the most run operating system, only Vista will annoy people like Halo 2 anoyyed people.

It really depends on what timeframe Halo 3 would be released.

If it were to come out inside of a year or a year and a half, when Vista is reliable/efficient/polished/whatever as XP is now, I would say put it on Vista. By that time XP will have lost much of its luster due to lack of support, no new apps, etc.

If Halo 3 were to come out tomorrow or in a few months, I would say put it on XP. Almost everyone has it, it's relatively reliable, and it's familiar.

Has anyone ever compared XP prices to Vista? XP costs more because IT IS BETTER.

Or, you know, Microsoft could be trying to encourage consumers to buy Vista by appealing to the bargain-hunter in everyone.

Your friendly and eccentric Sangheili forum-poster. :)

To be honest I think Microsoft made Halo 2 Vista exclusive because they knew it wasn't going to sell, considering it's not exactly a brilliant operating system for everyone. They'll probably use Halo 3 to get people to buy their next operating system.

This is just my opinion, but I think XP is better for gaming. They just run a lot more smoother without Vista running in the background.

Vista runs fine. And I just got my computer a bit faster! =D.

I found out for the last few months, it's been running on "energy saver", using only 1.2 Ghz of the 2.2 Ghz available to it from the Intel core duo.

Really, Vista is an okay Operating System. As long as you're not running crappy hardware (Which you shouldn't be if you're running games on your computer) Vista should run fine.

If Halo 3 gets ported to PC it will certainly be Vista-only.This is so that users can take advantage of things like Achievements and so on.

If your on a laptop, that's a good thing if its running on energy saver because it maximizes battery life. Mine throttles the Cpu speed depending on what your doing. Web browsing only runs the processor at about 300 mhz and I can get about 4-5 hours out of the battery. But gaming throws it back at 2.0 ghz and it sucks everything out of the battery for only an hour and a half of battery life. But when its plugged in, it should run at full power regardless (at least, that's how mine works). I think energy saver just throttles the CPU speed so it uses less power when its not needed. But I don't think they sell desktops with that feature.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that Vista is causing your computer to think its running a processor hogging program throttling it at full. Like I said before, if its a desktop, more power to you. If its a laptop, well, you might be seeing shorter battery life.

Not sure about this one. I'd love to see Halo 3 on the PC, but I really cannot see it happening. If it did, I'm sure it would be Vista only. This would be no bad thing, but I hope it would be better than Halo 2 Vista.!! It is really poor port.
I've also read GoW2 will NOT be ported to PC as well. I guess the costs are not justified, and besides, consoles sell far more copies of games, as they are much harder, if not impossible, to copy.

I wouldn't even be running Vista on my computer now if it wasn't for Halo 2. I'd just as soon they came up with a legal version of Halo 2 that I can use on XP, so I can go back to using an OS that doesn't completely suck.

It should:

Be the first game to run on Windows 7

Be also available on Windows XP and Vista

Should be the LAST PC game to run on Windows 98

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

I think Steam was the last thing to run on Windows 98 :P
