^Sry for the typo in the OP

I have been playing this game for comig up on 3 years now and i still find that people melle reload because they seem to believe it makes reloading faster. now i was wondering what you thought on this issue, my thoughts are that #1 it takes the same amount of time to realod whether you melle or not and #2 if you miss the melle it takes twice as long to reload all over again.

Yes it does work, as does the backpack reload (reload twice then tab and use another weapon). The problem with the melee reload as you said is timing. If you practice either the backpack or melee reload its much faster/efficient. I've definitely upped my ratio since I've gotten it down pat though. =)

Another good thing to practice with although its not so much a glitch is circular strafeing. For this, no shields sniper servers are the best place to practice. ;)

Of course it does, most useful to do with sniper rifle, just make sure to melee after you actually put the cartridge in. Fortunately Bungie put in the effort to have your shells actually reload at the same time as the animation, so based on the gun you're using, you can cut out a considerable portion of the animation and it makes a difference. Rarely is there a drawback, except when your teammate steps in front of you.

I actually recorded all of it and timed it and really the only reload that significantly got effected by the melee reload is the sniper and I think AR.

I think the pistol took longer to melee reload than regular reload.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

The reload melee is best when you are immediately trying to scope/zoom, otherwise it's a wash.

If you try to fire when you'd normally hit melee for the quick reload, the shot will register. It's all about server latency affecting the animation. It's only useful to zoom-in with pistol/sniper sooner.

Which makes sense, but in many shooters (I'm looking at you, Valve), you have to wait for the entire duration of the animation. It sucks when you slam a clip into your rifle and load the rifle, switch to another weapon, then go back to the gun and find out you didn't reload it, and then you get owned.
