Alright, I'm not going to say which one I like better, but I will post the pros and cons.
If you know some that I do not list, please feel free to add.
Halo CE:
Pros:
>Plasma pistol was a WEAPON, not just a tool
>Pistol perfectly countered the sniper
>Amazing story/campaign
>Extremly open-ended levels
Cons:
>Graphics are worst when compared to the other two.
>No online play
>Health pack system caused people to camp near health pack spawns
>Noticeble slowdown in Co-op
Halo 2:
Pros:
>Most campaign levels out of the three
>Arbiter Campaign (FTW)
>Online play
>Godly BR, perfect for ANY situation
>Extremly fast pistol
>HUGE amount of secrets and easter eggs
>Scarab Gun
>Brute Plasma Rifle
Cons
>Button Glitches led to lower weapon variety (why pick up an SMG when you can doubleshot with a BR?)
>No Black as a color
>No AR
>Glitchers, modders, and hackers owned the multiplayer aspect
>Dual Needlers (noob combo)
>HUGE tracking on the Plasma Pistol (PP+BR burst=quick kill)
>Too much auto aim on the sniper rifle (Easier for anyone to get kills with)
>SMG spawns lowered use of grenades and melee
>Host had a (more) signifigant advantage in multiplayer
Halo 3
Pros:
>Forge, for map customization
>Theater
>Ability to take screenshots
>"Ultimate spawn weapon" (AR)/ AR re-added
>BR re-balanced
>Ability to rip off turrets
>Armor Permutations
>Neeler no longer dual-wieldable
>More grenade types
>4 player, online, campaign (FTW)
>MUCH better skull system
Cons:
>Still no black color
>Not all weapons are spawnable (WTF?)
>Melee system takes some getting used to
>Only 2 grenades per map, lowering total grenade count to half of Halo 2s
>Short Campaign
>Uses Microsoft's Truskill system
>Elite's neglected in both campaign and multiplayer
>Plasma pistol is almost useless
>No extra enemies are added in co-op
>Screwed up spawn system.
