What's the point of titles if we just wait one year? I have never heard of a member that's ranked in titles before a year of being on Bnet. Titles are pointless, and they're not fun when people judge you based on what your title is.

1) Saying the trust number only takes into account quantity and no quality metrics is not accurate.
2) The trust number (and the titles) are a fairly accurate predictor of conduct, despite your statements that they mean nothing. This suggests that they are useful to at least some degree.
3) Even as I say that, people who say "they're not useful" miss the entire point. They're not meant to be useful. They're not even really positive reinforcement, although that is a secondary effect. Like most things we do, their primary design goal is "fun". I don't know if you've noticed, but a lot of people like to get little vanity rewards for stuff they're likely to do anyway (see Xbox Live acheivements as an example). The reward (in this case, a title) is utterly meaningless (even though the number powering it is useful), but as getting it requires "continuous positive contributions to the community" - something we'd like to see people do, well, that's a bonus for us. People who like little vanity rewards get something, we get something, and the community benefits.
Wondering at their usefulness is like demanding to know what Gamerscore is good for. Both questions completely miss the point. As do people who PM me asking why their title changed - who will not get any answer from me.
