I’m continually floored by the level of over indulging seriousness in posts like this. Is it that big of a deal to have a bit of fun on a site? Seriously? I’m not flaming anyone, but holy crap everyone needs to just take a breather and let things come and go as they do. The moderators will take care of bad posts and the drunken monkey behind the wheel will sort out other infesting issues. As a member who really just enjoys good, witty conversations with others, I have to ask – Why so serious?

Because a thread like this is mandatory. It's fun.
I like that these pop up every once in a while. They're intelligent, they shake things up, but ultimately, things just keep going they way they were before. They're good while they last for the discussion they bring.

Headlong - BR starts - last game of Halo 2. Never forget.

REAL Mancannon!!!

I like the titles as they usually, but not always, show someone is involved in the community.

I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

Which will ultimately end in an epic "you're mom" joke contest...

Although I'm not standing against the need for opinion based threads, my point is about the level of the bar that was set (by someone somewhere) that says we can't have fun once we are a certain level of membership...

As a Squirrel Ninja I do hereby promise to uphold our traditions, beliefs, and secrets, to recruit and induct Squirrel Ninjas who represent our ideals with pride, and to defend our traditions at all costs to myself with no exception. As a Squirrel Ninja I promise this until I die, or can’t physically or mentally uphold the ways of the Squirrel Ninja.

It's actually the preliminary sorting of Slingshot testers. The "higher" your title is, the less likely you will be selected for testing purposes. I though this was common knowledge...

I like titles but they can sometimes become frustrating, and I know because I have been a legendary member twice only to be demoted back regular member status each time within a few weeks. It makes me wonder why I am I even on this site and consider changing my posting style from posting logical well written arguments from an unbiased stance, to posting the same logical arguments with the addition of flames and speaking with tone of a smart MLG kid only comparable to Cursed Lemon.

I obey the rules and I know I do not always agree with Bungie. However, every time I state my gripes with them I am sure to do it in a well throughout format, from a neutral stance with the intention stir controversy and hopefully gain enough attention from the community for Bungie to acknowledge that there may be a problem with Halo 3 and at the very least they should look into it.

I do it with the upmost love for the game in hopes that it can live up to its full potential. I am sorry, but I am not a push over and I am disgusted by those hypocrites who want Halo 3 to be the best game it can be but not by improving on Halo 3 but at the cost of our first amendment rights. They do it by silencing others on the forum who ask for change. Why? Because change is scary and if the flaws are not necessarily game breaking or obvious then to them the game is perfect.

Most people on the Halo 3 forum are 15-year-old kids and the only truth they know is what Bungie puts in their head, unable to question or rebuttal what they are told in a logical manner. In other words, someone needs to do the right thing or Bungie will walk right over them, unquestioned.

Have Recon and want to hang out with other people with it.
Then join :: We are RECON or W.A.R

I like the forum titles. I've never seen anyone "try to pull rank" on a other member.
P.s- I just realized I lost my legendary title some how.

I know this may sound crazy, but if titles have no meaning to you...... IGNORE THEM!

Like I said, crazy.

I can't believe with your "history" you've blagged Mythic status! Shishka marked my card back in '05.....

To be honest, I usually don't pay attention to posts in massive threads unless I see a blue, gold, or salmon bar.

1) You haven't been paying attention if you think it takes 1 year to get a title.
2) I've already explained why they aren't pointless.
3) Why in the world do you care what other people on the Internet think of you? Of what worth is their opinion? If someone is judging you based on a meaningless title or your displayed Halo 3 stats or join date or something equally stupid, then they are likely a giant moron and would have made some kind of silly judgement even if the title is there. Why should what that kind of person says matter to anyone?

What's the point of titles if we just wait one year? I have never heard of a member that's ranked in titles before a year of being on Bnet. Titles are pointless, and they're not fun when people judge you based on what your title is.

Legendary and Mythic member titles are time sensitive. To be a legendary you have to be registered on this site since at least 2006. Whereas Heroic members were also seemingly time sensitive until recently. They are now in an ad hoc system. Where the perception is its given to certain members for so-called good behavior. Also to maintain this good behavior. Then taken away seemingly more because of personal reasons. Rather than the automated changes that has been suggested in the past....

This is a pets and punches approach that I find rather distasteful and disconcerting. Confusing people without any true need. Except for certain people exacting some sort of power that tickles their vanity. Either have a recognizable system with set goals. Whether length in membership or some other criteria is the said requirement. Which is more fair and produces the good behavior you desired. Or just do away with titles all together. Also despite what been said here that these titles are meaningless. These titles are apparently very important to many people. The posts in this thread have demonstrated that............

This is a perfect example of bad behavior. That's being rewarded by this system. Elitism, titles should be removed if this is what this system is producing..................

Seeing as you like to see people do the things that earn them progression, wouldnt it make more sense to remove the shroud of secrecy that's surrounded the system since its birth? I mean, is there actually a problem with people abusing a system for advancement when the "abuse" is a "continuous positive contribution"?

At the very least, the title formula needs to be more transparent. I see nothing wrong with boosting trust.
This is exactly why we do not know the math behind the member titles. There would not be much of a point to the titles if everyone spammed the place to get to that next one. The quality of contributions would suffer if the contributions were made for the wrong reasons.

There is no need to remove the titles or tweak anything about it, as it's not broken or causing anyone any harm.

I've done nothing but follow the rules.
