This forum, the Spetagon, Isn't exactly the bad forum. This is one of the Best B.net forums still around. Take a minute in Optimatch, and you'll see my anger.

You guys should have been around before the new hotness... In the Optimatch forum, from what I've seen, most people came during or after the surge of new members. Most of you are from November 04 and later. Before September 14th, we had the Old bungie.net, and we had much fewer people. Bungie actually had more control over us. People would not flame others, people would follow the rules, and the place was a much better place to be a part of. Ever since I joined, January 2004, I loved this place. As of about October of 2004, many new members started to join because Halo 2 was imminent. But, with this new group of people, Bungie began to have fewer workers per member. People started to not follow rules and bungie could simply not ban enough people in a certain amout of time, and it just got more and more out of hand...

I mean look at this post... Here. Before the Great Surge, people would have answered him like this... "I'm pretty sure, as you put it, it is Bogus. First thing, you can't carry 5000 rounds, even when duel weilding. That eliminates it right away."

But no! Everyone has to be a jerk about it and call this person stupid! Why can't you just be polite. You guys made the Bungie forums a very unfriendly place to be. This is all your fault.

Would you be able to do this in public? No!

All of the older members, such as myself, have been yearning for the old days.

The Great Surge has hurt this place..

For those of you newer members, imagine the Underground being a place where no one curses, and a post would be on the front page for an hour, not like 3 seconds before it gets bumped down to page 2 and to never be found again.

Mo Mods!

Or, the site should bring up an extra page for new members who are about to start a new topic that asks, "Are you sure this topic can't be found on the main page already?"

That should teach them! Honestly, can people seriously believe that a DLC discussion thread hasn't been started yet? Perhaps they can't read?

You do realise that most people here will be older Bungie fans? And you do also realise that the "old" bungie.net really stopped existing in April (12th according to my t-shirt)?

Although there were older bungie.nets ;-)

Hehe, I'm rather amused at an 01/04'er telling us about the "old" site. It really doesn't feel like I've been here for three years. Mind you, I rummaged around my Hotmail archives the other day and found some messages from 1998. That made me feel old...

In Bungie styling is 09/02 Middle School or Old School?

I mainly wanted to post it in the Optimatch to have all the youngin's know how to act. I mean, it's insane how bad Optimatch is right now. People literally only post when they can think of some way to insult another person. I just posted it in here because this place is where all of the older B.net members are. If all of us went around to the other forums, spreading some good posts around, people will begin to see that some people aren't just rude.

Ya see, people join here, go to a forum, and all they see is people cursing others out, so they think that's the thing to do. If the older members go around being polite and normal, people will be following our example.

Anyways, I'm not just a 01/04... I joined Bungie.net when I got halo. December 02... But I had to go away for a few months around Summer 03... I forgot about my Bungie.net passport. September of that year, I came back around the Truth and Reconciliation site. Then when I decided to join back, 01/04, I made this account. So I'm not just an 01/04

Yeah. I think I joined right before the New Hotness.... I don't remember NM being here once I joined. But I do remember Truth and Reconciliation.

Nah, new mombasa was put up after I joined. Even in the month before halo 2 this site was better than it is now. In some ways, this is better, but there are too many smart mouthed kids and such that go around cussing and calling people stupid and -blam!-. I have only been here about 6 months, but its been enough to see big changes happen.

MSXL: The Last Honest Chapter

These forums will never be free of spam, free of flamers, free of n***s, or free of repetetive posts. If you want a forum without these things, use the one in your own chapter, or go to another chapter that has one. (Like the one you currenlty frequent.) =P

It is honorable that you would want to change things, and that you would make a post like this, but in reality, it is pretty useless. Sure, I remember older days, I am one of the few people on here who is from '02, and I am proud of it. My protest to the crappy forums? I don't visit them. No loss.

Yeah. It must have been in the first few pages. But Zanzibar and Optimatch weren't here. Either way, they were released shortly after.

Yo Halo53, I'm real happy for you and I'ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best bungie.net profiles of all time. OF ALL TIME!

And what is your plan, viper? Ban every member that's joined in the last few months and close membership? Not going to happen. Change, though, does happen. I see it as we have 2 choices 1) adjust to it or 2) stop visiting the public forums.

I chose to adjust.

Why not try to be part of the solution instead of -blam!-ing about it? Why not report the losers who abuse this place? Or simply ignore them? What good does it do to say, "This place sucks now because new people are on here..." If it sucks, leave, if you want it to be a better place, contribute... It's silly to 'yearn for the old,' because Bungie.net is going to continue to grow. So you need to learn to deal with it... Not trying to be rude, just pointing out the obvious...

I haven't been a member as long as some of you guys, but that doesn't mean I'm one of those spammers, flamers, just downright annoying people. I have been a fan of Halo and Bungie for a long time, I just never got around to joining the forums. For about two months after Halo 2 was released, the forums started to get out of hand. This is my first post in about three months because of how ridiculous the forums had become. All I want to do is to have a normal conversation with other normal members. Now if you post something and you were wrong or late on something you get called a noob or stupid, excuse my language, but its just annoying that you can't ask a question and have a respectful and informative answer any more.

Yes, we tried to do that, try to report spamers. It was a group even. FIPA, if you remember. Basicly a bunch of people who wanted the forums to be a better place. BUT, I think the mods didint like the idea and MC's bro tod us to abandon the... Project.

It helps the new folk distinguish the complete lack of grey matter types, from those upset with their presence. It serves its purpose well enough I think.

How about we just cut to the chase and start building the giant sling-shot. I nominate Psyched to be the test dummy.

03 isn't that bad, I wish I would've joined sooner though. Anyways, the forums kind of collapsed after the new hotness. Collapse meaning, flooded with things. These things could be good and bad. Mostly bad, but we are doing are best to weed out the bad.

But we can't go back to the good old days where all of us were intelligent. All we can do is get together in a chapter (group). It is kind of fun though after a while Generalhardcore, so don't stop posting. Other times, it can be down right frustrating.
