This is my theory on the Forerunners, my first and only one ive posted... i dont know if it makes sense but bear with me here.

Here is my theory on the Forerunner stuff.

A long time Prophets and Forerunners lived together. The Forerunners made many shrines and temples and was very Technolicly Advanced. While going throughout the galazy the Prophets created a kind of species, the flood. The Forerunners, despising the Prophets creation of the Flood, and fearing there survival, created the Halo Rings and fled to them to activate them to Destroy the Flood and Prophets. The Prophets knew of there plan and also fled to a Halo structure. The Halo structures were come kind of SafeHouse from the weapon of the structures. And the Flood on those structures, the Prophets on those structures, and the Forerunners on those structures, survived. The Prophets fearing for what have happened, fled to a galaxy far away. The Forerunners developed some kind of Machine bodys so they could not be infected, and round up the last of the flood, on the Halo structures. With the Prophets having there Technology, they fled, fearing were the Prophets were and if they planned to destroy the Forerunners. The Forerunners then created Humans and hoped they would not recreate the horros of the flood. The Forerunners wanted the Humans to somehow destroy the Prophets, and left some things behind. Hopeing the Prophets did not find the Humans, and that Humans would destroy the Prophets, they left the Humans to develope their own technology, which would eventually lead to the destruction of the Prophets. Years and years passed. The Prophets had no idea of Humans, and while they were creating ships, to find the Forerunners and destroy them for what they had tried to do to them. Then the Forerunners discovered the Humans, and while they were hardly anything now, feared them for what they can become, for Technology from the Forerunners was in their blood. The Prophets then took all the Forerunners technology and began building an army. They created troops from experiments and ships from the Forerunners technology. Soon they would be ready for war. They started to late.

The Forerunners knew what was going to happen. But the Prophets, and their army named: The Covenant did not. In the year Approximitly 2500, the cloest thing to a Forerunner would be born. These children excelled in many things. Intelligence, strength, indurance. Everything for a soldier. They knew, becuase of the Humans blood would bring them to technology, these children would be chosen. And eventually destroy the unsuspecting Prophets.

Years passed and the Children were almost ready. When the most unexpected thing happened, the Prophets had created a armada and was going to destroy the Galaxy. Through this war many Children were strong, but some died. The Forerunners were worried that the Humans would lose this war. All there plans were downcassed by then. But they hopped the Humans would find the Rocks hidden in Earth, and the Main Military Planet, Reach. And get a upper hand on the Enemy. But the most unsuspecting thing happened. And Reach was attacked. But one ship. With the soldier of the Forerunners on it. Got away, and descovered A Halo Structure. The Forerunners hoped he would find hes detsiny there. The Forerunners were so confused and distracted by the war. They forgot about the Halo structures, and the flood contained on them. The Covenant was also there. John fought the Covenant. And the worse thing that could happened happened. The Prophets ordered their soldiers to release the flood, thinking theyd be safe, light years away, and hating the Forerunners so much. They were wrong, even 343 GS and hes army of the Sentinels, could not have stopped the flood. 343 GS told John to do what the AI was programmed to do, activate Halo, and wipe out the Humans, and Covenant, to starve them to death. The AI mistook John for a Forerunner with hes Armor and Sheilds, and ordered him to Activate Halo, the Forerunners hoped he would but he did what he was destined to do, live to fight, and destroy the covenant. John distroyed the ring and got back to Reach. He discovered some of hes teamates there and they found something the Forerunners had left them to desfeat the Prophets and to find them, a crystal that bent time and made ships go must faster in Slipspace. The Humans got off reach. And Dr. Hasley, the creator of the Soldiers, who made them what they were destined to be, told a Marine to take the crystal, and took a soldier named Kelly, to an unknown destination, the Forerunners could not even tell. The Marine commited suicide for unknown reason, even the Forerunners couldnt even tell why this happened. John learned the Covenant were on their way to earth. And destroyed the main force. Only to postpone the destuction of earth. The Crystal distroyed. And Earth on the footfalls of destruction... Only one soldier remained, chosen by the Forerunners to destroy the Prophets, John. And that must now destroy the Covenant. The only man that could acually prevent Earths fall. A soldier of the Ancients.

Note: im taking into consideration the other Spartans died, becuase i dont want them in Halo2 any Feedback? Thanks.

XBL: FTG Spartan
But you were dead a thousand times. Hopeless encounters successfully won. A man long dead, grafted to machines your builders did not understand. You follow the path, fitting in to an infinite pattern.
Yours to manipulate, to destroy and rebuild.
Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.
I know who you are.
You are Destiny.

interesting theory kid but one thing is wrong, the marine didnt commit suicide when he blew up the crystal. he was trying to do just that, blow it up and didnt know that it would kill him

good idea though

Pretty decent theory, but I see one possible problem. Maybe my thinking's off, but in Assault on the Control Room, Cortana says that the Covenant "found" something, and were scared. I've always thought that the Covenant didn't know about the Flood before they were attacked by them before Captain Keyes' group came in. So, I would think that the Prophets would have passed their knowledge to the Elites so they could know what to expect when landing on a giant ringworld. That's just my opinion.

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

The whole Forerunner-Prophet relation and the Prophets creating the flood stuff aren't really based on anything... but good thoughts, none the less. I've seen better, but I've also seen worse.

True, the Prophets know more about the Forerunner than any other race... but that doesn't mean they've actually met them. They only grew up on a world previously inhabitted by them.

this person brings up a good point. What i got out of the cut scenes, the game play, and the books is that the covenant believe they are direct decendants of the forerunner and thats y they think the halos are so precious, there religion revolves around forerunner technology, and also they tried duplicating the technology. The covenant find all forerunner things such as the holy light from the first strike sacred. Humans are also against the covenant religion and thats one reason y they hate us so much.
in your theory tho, something that doesn't make sense is why the prophets create the flood, it seems so pointless. so i think that point might be wrong. The part about the forerunners creating humans and those certain special ppl that are smarter, stronger, faster are chosen for spartans- i like that part i think that makes a lost of sense.
also during the game play i believe that the covenant didn't know about the flood, cortana said that they found something and are scared, even if the prophets told them to find the flood i think they woulda came with better equipment other than plasma pistol, rifle, and needler which aren't very good against them.
But all in all your theory i'd say is probably abour 60% right or atleast we will find out in halo 2

True, the Prophets know more about the Forerunner than any other race...

Show me the proof the Prophets worship the Forerunner. It is never confirmed, it is implied. The Covenant thought Halo was holy, but it is never stated that they worship the makers of Halo. The Covenant call the makers of Halo "gods", yes. But it is never said that they worship those gods, not once.

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

Quite true, Barron. Although I didn't say they worshiped them, either.

However, I do think that all the races besides the Prophets worship the Forerunner. Although its never actually said, there are many references, hints, and implications at it. Personally, I think that the Prophets are mearly using the other races, and that they are simply power hungry and love to manipulate people. The High Prophet of Truth has a tone that is almost mocking the Forerunner in First Strike. I think he said something like, "Soon none of the holy relics will matter." I don't think any of the lower classes would think this...

Interesting theory, definitely... but, ah... I wish you'd have patched it up a bit... I can barely read it.
So: Why don't you want the other spartans in Halo2? Afraid they're gonna make you look bad?

i"m sorry to says that, but you can't says forerunner and prophet live together. Foreruner=races and prophet=covenants class. In halo you have 4 races, forerunner, humans, covenants and flood.<---proof of this(the covenants, halo.bungie.orgtext by hbo staff) And one thing is also not fitting. The forerunner are the conquerer of halo 04, they built the first installation on Halo. And after they had abandoned this halo, installation 04. And covenants come later.<--- proof of this(the forerunner, halo.bungie.org, text by hbo staff) and also i you see strange symbol during some halo level, it's forerunner language.
