Bring Back Rocket Race!!!

You know I must admit, I enjoyed having this whole conversation. Your arguments are very good. And you all seem very knowledgeable on this topic. A lot of the people in the Halo 1 Xbox forums have pretty much brought that forum down to a low status full of modern Halo games haters. At least in this forum people know how to make a good argument. So just a little acknowledgement there for you guys.

Anyways, back on topic. If you guys haven't heard yet, Steve Ballmer (CEO of Microsoft) announced recently that they're working on a new Xbox 360 that will have several upgrades to it as well as Project Natal integrated into it. The new 360 will remain compatible with all Xbox 360 games so no backwards compatibility software or equipment is necessary. This means that the 360 may be upgraded to be comparable to modern PC's. This is a sign that Microsoft isn't even considering any PC ports for awhile since they probably have most of MGS focused on this new 360 which will power the new upcoming Halo game Halo: Reach which may be able to surpass Crysis in terms of graphics.

I highly doubt Reach will even come near Crysis. Crysis is like real -blam!- life on my computer. Even if it does Crysis 2 is coming out and Crytec has always pushed graphics in their games. Also Crysis is will be 3 years old by the time Reach comes out. I doubt a console will ever be comparbible in specs to computers, since xbox once it's out of manufacturer can't be upgraded at all. Whereas PC can get new graphic/video cards, DX11 support is coming. More RAM..

I saw your post on The Library. You're points of ODST beating Halo is a joke. First the Hub world is nice. But once you beat the game and find all of the audio logs there is really nothing to do, besides wander around. This can't get very boring...very quickly. The flashbacks missions are fun..not overly memorable.
Except for Coastal Highway. FF is alot of fun. But like any survival mode it can get repetitive if you play too much of it.

Yes of course the grapics are better(durr Halo is almost 10 years old retail wise) The music once again is beaten, but due to budget constraints.

It won't happen because when it comes to higher end games, the people with the better hardware will have a better advantage. For people with weaker hardware, there games may tend to slow down sometimes when there are lots of objects on the map.

That's why consistency is important for Xbox 360's. So no one has an advantage.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

They are making crysis 2 for the 360, but it will run on all 360s. And also, it may be like a "SLIM" version, or one with a better chipset (no rrod), but it wont be a power upgrade, like another 32x.

upgrades?
all they do is make the parts smaller, so that less heat is produced.
and why is this about 360? 360 is what makes games crap, and stripped down, and forces developers to take stuff out.

If Halo 3 PC is going to be real it has to be worth the full amount paid, and needs to include the following.

Halo 3 PC = all the games and modes below.
Halo 3 Campaign (as many players as we want, 4 players is a stupid limit on PC)
Upgraded Theater and Forge to take advantage of more RAM.
Halo 3 ODST Campaign + Firefight
Halo 3 Multiplayer (all Multiplayer maps, includes DLC) + Forge.
Halo 3 Editing Kit (better be awesome, and more open sourced)
let us has all your campaign and multiplayer content, aswell as us being able to make custom content.
Copy + paste this into your sig if you like it.

Actually, the new upgrades to the next-gen 360 should include Project Natal built in as well as more RAM and better graphics card. This is all from Steve Ballmer the CEO of Microsoft.

Now, if you have a Halo Editing Kit, then what's the point of having Forge? Forge would just waste extra space on the disc. Sure Forge is noob friendly, but I doubt the average PC gamer will use Forge over the HEK. As for Theater Mode, I don't think it can be improved anymore other than the ability to play films even faster.

As I mentioned before, I'd like to have a Halo 3 PC as well, it will add a lot of convenience when I'm away from my 360.

You mentioned that you wanted the HEK to be open source. Unfortunately, it's not like Microsoft to make their products open source. As far as I know, Microsoft owns the rights to make more Halo games at the moment. Bungie just owns the IP. So the Halo 3 Engine will probably remain closed source or proprietary for awhile and all you'll get is what you've always been getting in Halo 1 & 2 for PC.

I kinda mean, they should be kind, enough to include their own tags.
or we'll just get -blam!-es like Zteam and CMT claiming credit for ripping out the tags.
I don't mean their Engine.

there is always improvements, you don't know any.
Forge can be used for map "variants", or to perfectly place weapons in the HEK.

Theater mode can be improved to use more ram, which allow Campaign Films rewind and clips to function.

yay for 360 hardware upgrades!

If they gave us all their tags to use,
anyone would be able to make good maps,
like putting ai onto a map, or making our own campaign maps.
put all vehicles and weapons on all maps, since Bungie has restricted all maps be excluding some weapons and vehicles.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

Would it matter? H2V didn't suck just because it was Vista exclusive. It sucked because the game is awful. Simple as that.

But now that GfWL works with XP, and we know that Halo 3 runs in DX9 natively, there's really no legitimate reason to restrict it to Win7 or Vista/Win7. Halo 3 would have no problem running on any OS that's XP or up.

2k, however, wouldn't be possible. Nor should it. If you're on 2k, you don't deserve to play any next-gen PC games.

I personally wouldn't mind Halo 3 PC being a Vista/Win 7 exclusive. I've had Vista since the day it came out, and I plan on getting Win 7 soon anyways. Windows XP at this point is pretty much obsolete. It's over 8 years old. If you want to play a next-gen game, you should play it on a next-gen system. That phrase was obviously meant for console games, but you can apply it to PC's as well. Go Vista!

Until you wake up and realize that 52.10% of gamers use XP. And that is not counting the much less (only .50% of gamers use it) common XP AMD64 port. Besides, most "next gen" games use DX9 as it is faster.

But that will probably change on 10-22-09, when 7 comes out and people rush to get it.

Vista uses DirectX 10 though. And while a lot of games are still meant for DirectX 9, some games can run better in DX10 like Halo 2 Vista. Plus, once Win 7 comes out, there will be DX11 which is supposed to be a major improvement over DX10.

Eventually, DirectX 9 will be phased out and next-gen games won't support it anymore like DX 8 today. No modern game supports DX 8 anymore. By modern I mean games like COD 4, H2V, Gears of War, and so on. I think soon after DX 11 comes out, DX9 will start to become phased out as it will be 2 versions out of date.

Crysis 2 will natively support DirectX 11 without needing patches or anything like that. I don't know if it will even support DX 9 anymore. Also, there are actually a few of next-gen games that natively support DX 10 instead of DX 9.

Technically, any difference less than 5% is negligible.

I think the numbers would be much difference if we didn't see all the anti-Vista hype in recent years.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! I know I said I wasn't going to respond to your posts anymore, but this is just too hilarious not to respond to.

There's next to no difference between D3D9 and D3D10. There's no reason to fix or replace something that already works, except for Microsoft and the almighty dollar. I guarantee Halo 3 for Windows will be another bug-ridden money-grab that disappoints many and obsesses a few.

That's not the point he was making. The point he was making is that it's completely impossible to create an Xbox 360 game that surpasses Crysis in terms of graphics.

However, if a next-gen console is made, that usually brings the graphics capability up to par with modern gaming pc's for a little bit. Eventually, console games will surpass Crysis in graphics. Of course I'm only talking about Crysis 1 as sequels always have better graphics.

Since Halo: Reach is coming out around the time that Microsoft plans to release their upgraded Xbox 360, who knows what changes will be made to the graphics.

Daodan Latency at 65%

Not sure if you understand this. The CryEngine is optimized for better hardware than the xbox 360. This means it has more resources to take advantage of for rendering. Consoles will never be better than a desktop platform. With consoles it is a tradeoff for cost against quality of hardware. Sure at some point a console could surpass Crysis 1, but that time will come when hardware is powerful enough to run it while still being cheap.

Oh my God! He's still trying to defend himself!

Where do you get this idea that Microsoft is just going to start making more powerful Xbox 360s? As long as it has the name "Xbox 360" it will have the same specs, you can't have some games be compatible and some games be incompatible with older Xbox 360's. When Microsoft makes an Xbox with more power it will be under a completely different title, it will no longer be an Xbox 360.

Now that we all understand that Xbox 360s are Xbox 360s, hopefully we all can understand that the Xbox 360 is incapable of producing graphics like Crysis.
