Halo 1 & 2 for PC

Subject: A New Unofficial "Halo 3 PC" Thread

My name is Cal Hunter.
I only got into halo around 2007-2008, but as soon as I played it I couldn't stop! I'm normally better at campaign than multiplayer (not saying I'm bad at it though).
I can't wait to see what games Bungie makes in the future, because I'm sure they'll be great.
Thank Bungie!

For 2 long years I LONGED for H3-PC but after I bought myself an X-box 360 (I didn't have one yet because I chose ps3 over 360...?) I realised that, really, Halo 3 would SUCK on pc! I have halo 1, 3 and ODST on 360 but halo 2 on pc. You needed the strongest computers in retail back then for it to run smoothly! who would want to have a crappy little halo 3 running with a terrible FPS, terrible Graphics, Audio lags, ect.
Maybe they are waiting for pc's to be up to scale because they don't want to make another terrible mistake! maybe it's as simple as they want to release the halo series before they can be bothered to start work on h3 PC. when the thread was started it was WAY too early to start making demands like that! just wait it out til next year and see what happens!

Halo Reach PC über alles!

Posted by: Wizard Champ
Wait a minute I just had an idea, what if they haven't made Halo 3 for the PC yet because they want to release both Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST in one package which they would label Halo 3 for the PC. It could have two discs one would hold the campaigns for each game and firefight mode while the other would have the multiplayer experience that could be cross platform. Of course the first disc would also have a theater mode and the ability to take pictures but also Halo 3's original campaign would be upgraded to Halo 3: ODST's slightly improved graphics or both campaigns and firefight would be improved even more so for the computer. The second disc would be almost identical to Halo 3: ODST's multiplayer disc and would have the same graphics as Xbox 360 Halo 3 so it could be cross platform. Maybe it could also have a third disc for just PC multiplayer play with improved graphics, exclusive maps, and a map editor where you can completely make your own maps (this would replace forge on this disc).

Nice idea, but keep in mind most PC gamers would rather install games to their hard drive to make the use of the disc as a backup. I would say that the first disc could have Halo 3 (No MP, but all the features you would expect from it.) the second could have ODST (Same as H3 but firefight included), and the 3rd disc could be the Halo 3 Multiplayer. (with all the other features that go with it, and maybe some features designed for PC gaming as a whole.) It is a thought, but I think it is a good idea.

The only reason H2V sucked was because of bad programing and lack of features you would typically expect from a PC game (A.K.A. Games for Windows LIVE.) Hate to burst your bubble but most PC gamers (and some Halo fans) know this to be true. Considering that Halo 1 could run on most conventional PCs back in 2003, H3 could run on modern day PCs, granted they have the right people for the job. So don't lose hope, keep on praying.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

With proper porting, this wouldn't be a problem.

I don't play computer games that much so I don't know whats popular, thanks to adding your thoughts, they are very helpful for future computer game ideas.

er, no.
If Halo 3 and ODST were to be released for PC, it would be compressed onto one 8GB disk.
if they made one single cache map for all resources needed in other maps, it will further lower the size of all campaign and multiplayer maps, even custom maps.

more things to be added.

Drop-in Drop-out co-op support.

Exclusive to Windows 7, will work for Vista, not XP since its too old, and it's about time they moved onward.

I was just thinking considering that it was done before with Crysis: Maximum Edition. Then again, you could be right.

or 2. We can think of some ideas on how we can persuade Bungie (or whomever might be associated with Microsoft Game Studios) to do this for us. Besides there is still plenty of time before Halo Reach/the next E3, Maybe if we try to be demanding about it we can still let a great 360 game see the light of day on the PC.

I've tried: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=makx6w0NriQ

Maybe we can spread this out to more forums than just the Halo PC forum, (no, we don't need to mention this thread/this forum altogheter.) Get the attention of more people. Because our common goal is to get H3 on the PC. (and for it not to suck like H2V or MW2PC)

Every time I read something that I think is the stupidest thing ever and something can't replace it, something manages to replace it.

Well, surly I cant be alone in thinking that maybe Reach pc will be realsed instead of halo 3 pc? Although not for some more time.

Exclusive to Win7 equals a no-no. Majority of people have XP because it's the best Windows out there. Win7 is just Vista turned into...well...Vista. Heck, games nowadays still support Win 2000.

Don't talk about stuff you clearly know nothing about. There's already too much of that here.

it's time they moved on, soon Windows XP will be phased out, as of now there is no free support for it.

Actually hardly any games support Win 2000. Win7 is also really awesome and truly, not that many people use xp as you think.

Hypocrisy at it's best. You guys should still remember this is my opinion, and that I think XP is the best selling Windows OS. Only quite recently have games stopped supporting XP. And most people who have Windows would have Win XP, and laptops would have Win 7.

You posted an untrue statement as if it were fact, and I called you out on it. How is that hypocrisy? Or are you just gonna pull a Richard Dawkins and start redefining words?

Lemme break it down for ya. You said that Win7 is the same as Vista. Anyone, ANYONE, who has used Vista will tell you that the performance change is night and day. You'd know that too if you had used it.

More hilariously, you said that games nowadays still support Windows 2000. Do tell, which ones? I'm curious as to your answer, because as I recall, Battlefield 2 is getting up the hill (2005), and its requirement was XP. So it goes without saying that any major release in the past few years isn't going to support Win 2000.

Though I doubt you'll be the last one I say it to, what with all the console kiddies coming in here thinking they know something about PC gaming, I'll go ahead and say it again: Don't talk about stuff you clearly know nothing about. There's already too much of that here.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

But wouldnt that cause more load times, as halo 3 xbox was NOT supposed to be installed?

Anyways, halo 2 pc is still not on games on demand, so idk if halo 3 will be on PC.

easy fix for Bungie.
They'd have to remove their "optimized for HDD" feature, since it's meant for DVD users.

Microsuck knows they did a -blam!- job of the game, and won't acknowledge the existence of it.
They don't want to release Halo 3 PC, because modders would make great use of it.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

Win 2k was a great OS back in the day and slightly faster than XP. The issue more than anything was API support. AFAIK, Win2k (like XP) stopped at DX9.0c. Most games that support XP will run just fine on Win2k even though it doesn't say it on the game box.

The last game i know to offically support 2k was The Orange Box. Also, i see people still using 2k, but mostly for older PCs.

I don't have top of the line hardware, and I can run Resident Evil 5 at twice the frame rate of Xbox 360 with anti-aliasing and anistropic filtering. :P
