Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

But hey look at the bright side (sort of), now that Bungie has partnered up with Activision (EA would've been a better choice)

Well, both are money-grubbing bastards, but games published under Activision actually receive patches when crap goes wrong.

Bungie should've gone with Valve, because they'd have gotten the chance to make games for their beloved Mac. lol.

Yet another idiot who thinks modding = cheating.
Apparently, people mod halo 1 all the time, and no one complains. And counter strike and team fortress were mods.

Yeah man, those modders completely and totally ruined Halo PC, Custom Edition, and Halo 2 Vista! They should burn for breathing new life into an otherwise stale game!

When a game gets "stale" for me, I put it where it belongs. On the shelf. Then I go to a store that sells games and buy a new one. Or depending on where you live, I can also go to the library and rent some newer games to play. Unfortunately, the library does not rent PC games. But I think there are obvious good reasons behind that.

Anyways, with new games coming out every month, modding becomes superfluous. Yes, it extends the playable life of a game, but I'd rather play a whole new game than play an older game with modified content. Even if the mod changes things at a high level like Counter Strike, I'd still rather play the newer version like I did when Halo 2 PC came out and subsequently when Halo 3 came out.

You see, I'm a well rounded gamer which means I play all kinds of genres. If you look at my gamertag, you'll see that I play many different types of games. I don't stick to a game too long after a sequel to it has been released. Like when Halo 3 came out, I immediately stopped playing Halo 2 and played only Halo 3 until ODST came out. Soon after ODST, I played Modern Warfare 2. And now i can't wait for Halo: Reach to come out.

My point is that while modding does make a game more interesting, it ultimately will not substitute the real thing. By that I'm referring to all the Halo 3 mod attempts in Halo: CE. In the Halo 1 forums and I believe in this forum too, you all say that Halo 1 beats Halo 3 hands down in almost every aspect possible, yet you all want to get the latest Halo 3 mod for Halo: CE when it becomes available. Why would you want that if you don't like Halo 3? If you really want to play Halo 3, then you should know very well, modding well never be able to bring Halo: CE up to the same standards of Halo 3.

In conclusion, modding doesn't breathe new life into a stale game. It merely keeps the game living on life support a little longer. This is why there should be a Halo 3 for PC released soon. Once Halo 3 PC is released, the popularity of Halo3 mods for Halo: CE will quickly dwindle.

yee! modders should burn for making the game better than the game developers themselves. lol.

I too find it stupid, certain modders rip content from newer games, then inject them into Halo 1 maps.
They really are stupid, and are not introducing anything new, on an old engine.
you get comments like, "oh that looks 100% like Halo 2's Sanctuary", such retarded comments on their youtube videos.

Well, I'll admit my reaction was definitely over-the-top. It drives me nuts when someone comes along and classes the people who're modding the game for the sake of content creation with the same jackasses that mod to cheat. I probably should have worded that a little differently. %-)

They are a bunch of halo 3 n00bs, where they say "MODDING = BAN" on the "Did you know?" box on every single matchmade game. Of course, the best mods are on modded 360s!

Microsuck and Bungie are retards, they have to assume all mods are cheats.

Some companies fear modders are better than them, Microsoft is 1st on the scared to -blam!- list, and Bungie is 2nd.

I should reword yours, Halo 2 Vista has no mods.

No mods for Halo 2 Vista is already proof of how sad, boring, zombified a game is.

Hold on, didn't you make a main menu mod under your alternate username, shock120?
Anyways, the only h2v mods are custom weapons with custom models, and that's basically it. There were also some campaign mods that aren't as good as halo CE's campaign mods.

Halo Reach PC über alles!

Ok, let me make one thing PERFECTLY CLEAR to you newcomers of PC Gaming like this one

Ya this would be awesome except for all the moddind that would be done to a great game

Mods = User generated content delivered through the community, and often times is better than what the developers create. Can also come in MANY FORMS. (can be as simple as a new skin, to a new campaign.)

Hacks = Are a mod, but instead of it being beneficial to PC gaming, it ends up being used to cheat in PC games, and is not taken well by the people who play the game or the people who made it. a good example being an aimbot (a hack that lets you get instant kills, usually in the form of a headshot)

GOT IT?

Mods = file edits, preferably going where no Bungie dev has gone before.

Hacks = memory edits, you edit memory, memory is temporary, not permanent, hacking programs help. =D

either one can be cheats, but it's mainly restricted to what the player does, auto-aim, aim-bot, magnetism, speed, etc.

Anyone that posts a cheating mod or hack would likely be flamed.

I'm not so sure about that. I don't know about what the PC community thinks about hacks & cheats, but I definitely do know that there are a lot of people from the console community that would love to get their hands on hacks & cheats. I'm mainly referring to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 with all the 10th Prestige Lobbies and other hacked game lobbies that help people boost at an incredible rate. I'm sure this also applies to Halo 3 where people would love hacks that can get them easy kills for them to rank up to a 50.

I'm not saying all console gamers want hacks. I personally don't. I've had many opportunities to enter 10th prestige lobbies before but I never once did. In fact, I'm one of the few people who refuse to prestige at all. I've been a level 70 for quite some time now. But anyways, not all console gamers want hacks. But there are quite a few that do. I don't think this really applies to the Halo PC community because you can't really rank up. Therefore, there's no reason to use hacks to boost. But that's just from my perspective.

QFT. Take a good hard look at this, console kiddies. Read it a few times to make sure you got it right. This is most certainly how it works in PC land.

As a matter of fact, I need to remember where this is so it can be re-posted when another noob comes in here thinking he's people.

Right about the development, wrong about the IP. That's according to the press release from MS, yo:

Microsoft Corp. today announced a plan for Bungie Studios, the developers of the "Halo" franchise, to embark on a path to become an independent company. Microsoft will retain an equity interest in Bungie, at the same time continuing its long-standing publishing agreement between Microsoft Game Studios and Bungie for the Microsoft-owned "Halo" intellectual property as well as other future properties developed by Bungie.
Went ahead and bolded the part that's relevant to your interests. As it stands, Microsoft owns the Halo IP.

Catch that? No? here it is again: Microsoft owns the Halo IP.

Still some confusion? One more time: Microsoft owns the Halo IP.

With Pc, however, there are aimbots, wallhacks, speedhacks, and more. On PC games that use ranking, there are also cheats for that as well.

They have that same stuff on consoles too. It just depends on the game. Halo 3 you don't really have that stuff, but Modern Warfare 2 is plagued with all that stuff.

You should probably keep up with the updates more often, Bungie isn't making another Halo game after Reach, all IP, that is - new Intellectual Property, published under activision will remain with Bungie.

Chances are it will have Vista compatibility. Unlike XP, Vista is still young and in the main stream support phase of Microsoft's Lifecycle Policy. Therefore, as Microsoft does not consider Vista to be obsolete yet, they will still produce games for Vista and 7.
