EDIT: I'd also like to add that Games for Windows LIVE PC Gaming is FREE. Be glad you do not have to pay for Live Service to play :). You're actually very lucky.

Okay captain obvious.

comments like that are why people get into fights. so I will say this. Xbox Live isn't free, since this is the same service except for PC you are lucky to get free service.

Not really, PC gaming online is free, so GFWL isn't any different.
We don't care that they're free, they should never have charged in the first place.
Same service, different platform.

MS seems to forget, PC is more demanding than console.

here's hoping they got better banning techniques, but the mods will outweigh any stupid memory hacks.

-blam!- halo 3 for pc. if only bungie would a graphics update for halo 1 pc and finish cmt's spv2. that would be better. leave the teabagging noobs to xbox 360. a graphics update for halo 1 would be better since more people's computer's would be able to handle it. but my pc could play halo 1 over 100+ fps. it wouldn't really go down that much if they gave a texture pack like they did with half life. i would like it better if it the new spartan textures looked like spv2's

stfu dumbass.
Bungie isn't going to do anything, and you are taking your CMT fanboyism too far.

Halo 1 is already finished it's support lifecycle.

Anyone that wants Halo 3+ODST or Reach for PC, does not care about graphical upgrades for Halo 1.

You seem to forget these new iterations of Halo games do not only have graphical upgrades, but also engine upgrades.

Reason why CMT abandoned Halo 1, is because Zteam didn't finish their program, and they also saw Halo 1 as limiting their potential, where as there were newer games which expanded their imagination.

Actually Xbox Live and GFWL are slightly different from each other. Party Chat is one example.

Based on your history in this forum, you seem to dislike GFWL. So I'm going to assume you mean Xbox Live is win. But I'm not here to start a flame war.

But anyways, i remember awhile ago someone here said that cross-platform compatibility is dead for GFWL. It's been brought to my attention that it's not true and that future games may still have cross-platform play. Cross-platform is really up to the developers. They're the ones that decide if they want to do that or not. So Halo 3 PC may still have cross-platform play.

GFWL is free b/c PC online games, with some exceptions (MMOs and such), have been free for a very, very long time. A much longer time than Xbox Live has been around. Not only that but PC games are more of core of gamers than XBL. And technically speaking GFWL is not totally free, b/c you can only access certain servers with the free account. I have XBL gold and play some GFWL games as well. So people really should not complain about this. Is $50 dollars a year all that bad???

Your information is a bit out of date. GFWL is totally free now. There are no free servers and gold only servers. I know halo 2 pc still says there are gold only servers available, but you can still join those servers regardless of what type of membership you have. This happened about a year ago. Now I do agree with you that xbox live is worth $50 a year. The features you get with it are what makes it worth it. Take a look at Nintendo Wi-Fi. It's free yes. But compare it to Xbox Live and you'll see a huge difference. The same applies to Playstation Network. It's not as bad as Nintendo Wi-Fi but it's not as good as Xbox Live which is why there's that new PlayStation Network Premium Service coming out soon which makes it better. But still not as good as xbl.

I think it's too late for Halo 3 to be cross-platform.

But, Halo Reach this has the chance.

Bring Back Rocket Race!!!

Games For Windows - Live was supposed to be the future of pc gaming. It was supposed to be a new standard in the pc game development and it was supposed to introduce new features that enhance your gaming experience. Microsoft's vision was to bridge the gap between all the platforms which is why they developed Tray and Play and Cross-Platform gaming. Unfortunately, lazy 3rd party developers hindered progression of this platform. I still believe in Microsoft's vision of a unified gaming world. But that time has not come yet and it'll be awhile before it comes.

I think if Microsoft makes a Halo: Reach PC, they should really allow the game to take full advantage of Games For Windows Live, which means Tray and Play as well as Cross-Platform gaming. Halo: Reach is supposed to be the best console game with the most features. If you guys saw the Reach ViDoc about Forge in Halo: Reach, you'll see that it's been greatly improved since Halo 3 and it's starting to become a true map editor. While I'm sure it's nowhere near a PC game's map editor, the user-friendliness will still allow people to build maps that are comparable to what a PC map editor can do. I'm sure Theater Mode will be much improved as well. Such a fully-featured game on the PC will definitely help Microsoft achieve its dreams of a unified gaming world and help bring Games For Windows Live up to par with other online PC services like Steam.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

Pretty much. It's extremely difficult to make a game cross-platform after it's been developed exclusively for one system. Actually, Final Fantasy XI is the only game where I've seen it happen.

I'm a Halo fan, i have Halo: Combat Evolved Game of the Year Edition, Halo 2 Limited Edition, Halo 3 Legendary Edition, and Halo Wars Limited Edition. I plan to make Halo's 1, 2, and 3 into live-action movies, Wars, ODST, and Reach i'm not so sure about, but i wiil release them into theaters as well. The novels and comic books i plan to make them animated. I'm a guy that you can get along with pretty well and i'm well laid back and a nice guy. And i'm single. I'm a guy you can talk to.

To be honest, Halo 3 would work just as easily on XP as much as Mass Effect 2 or Aliens Vs. Predator(2010) for XP; quite frankly i don't see it working out for Vista, XP and 7 is the most likely choice. Will it come out this year, not likely, this time in the next year or 2 possibly, who knows, i mean XP is the most common Windows software out right now, Vista, well evryone says its a good while others say it sucks, so i really don't know about Vista. But 7 could be a big possibility, people say that it's better than Vista, but no one's to sure about it. But Halo 3 For The PC is a very big possibility. If they did make it for the PC they would basicly have to make evrything hey made for the console and put it on the PC and possibly make some new things for like for Halo: CE, they gave us new multiplayer maps, new wepons, they gave us the banshee for multiplayer and the shade, they gave us the rocket 'hog, and made us Halo: Custom Edition, and Halo 2 Vista, they gave us a primitive version of Forge mode or online, it would be impressive if they came out with Halo 3 For The PC on XP, Vista, and 7, but I just find it hard to believe it'll come out this year. And I hope they don't -blam!- with the campaign, that is unless they add some more easter eggs in the game but I doubt that too, but it would be cool to see it com out for the PC.

There's another PC game that's coming out in about a month that's also going to be cross-platform but the console version was released like a year ago. It's called BlazBlu: Calamity Trigger.

I actually haven't played BlazBlu at all. I've been wanting to, being a pretty heavy Guilty Gear fan, but I never had the time.

Honestly, this idea scares me a bit though. Ever played Street Fighter IV PC online? Everyone and their mothers are using macros.

Halo Reach looks like it can become a cross-platform game.
remember how Shadowrun dumbed down their aiming reticule,
well look at this vid, it resembles it right?

I hope Gearbox is remaking/upgrading this game for PC.

The problem is Microsoft tries to force its vision where it isn't wanted. The PC gaming commuity doesn't want MS's vision. We want a Halo game that can be integrated into existing PC apps i.e. X-fire, and the ability to customize the game. They haven't figured out they by tightnen their fist more and more system...er gamers slip thru their grasp.

I like Microsoft's vision though, being a console and pc gamer. One unified platform for all gaming. It would eliminate the need for seperate apps like x-fire and anything else that is already integrated into xbox live. If every future PC game were to become a Games For Windows Live game, then Microsoft's vision will become a reality. Eventually in the future, all games may possibly be cross platform under one unified online service. I know Final Fantasy XIII already allows cross platform gaming between the PS3 and Xbox 360. All we need are more games that can support cross platform across all platforms. I can't speak for the PC gaming community, but I do know that Microsoft's vision will be well accepted by the console gaming community.

It's obvious that you can't speak for the PC gaming community, because GfWL is absolutely terrible. Putting it on every game would add to the cancer unless massive improvements were made. It would have to be nothing short of overhauling the entire thing.

As for making everything cross-platform, I heard Microsoft tested this idea using a few games and the PC gamers slaughtered the consolers every time. So, of course, I'd definitely down for making every game cross-platform. Hell, if H3 was cross platform, I bet you that after a few rounds with even modest PC gamers, those trash talking kids would shut their mouths.

Cross-platform play was available on a few games like Shadowrun and Lost Planet. The official records were that both sides were evenly matched. Truth is, there's no evidence or scientific research to prove that the keyboard and mouse gives you any significant advantage over the xbox 360 controller. It's all a matter of preference. Choosing between one of the two is like choosing an HP or Dell. It's just a matter of preference. And technically, it wasn't Microsoft that tried it out. It was the developers of the games. Microsoft only promoted cross-platform gaming. But they do not have much control over it.

Whether a game supports cross-platform gaming is up to the developers. Not Microsoft. As we all know, most 3rd party developers tend to be somewhat lazy which is the reason why there aren't that many cross-platform GFWL games. Cross-Platform gaming is not dead. It's still active on all the games and still quite popular for the games that still have it.

Yes, GFWL could use a lot of improvements. Specifically it's multiplayer and online chat functions should be brought up to par with Xbox Live. In other words, party chat and port the entire xbox live arcade library as well as the Indie Games to GFWL marketplace. As long as GFWL remains free but has the same features as Xbox Live, then I will be fully satisfied.
