343industries is not working on Halo 3 PC
This is my conclusion.

In fact, some months ago I saw a video interview to 343industries where it was said that they were working on two different and secret projects (Go to 1:17 of the video). I thought that hopefully they were working to port Halo 3 to PC. But today, at the Microsoft conference at E3 2011, Halo 4 and Halo CE Remake have been revealed. So, those two secret projects mentioned before on which 343i was working had nothing to deal with the PC.

My guess is still the same as it was a year ago when I first entered this thread. Most likely there will never be a PC version of Halo 3.

If one were to ever be released, I would definitely go for it. Even if it's a Windows 7 exclusive or Windows 8 exclusive, I'll go for it. But I just don't see it ever happening.

lol I have an Xbox 360 and all the Halo games for it. However, it'd be nice to have a PC version so I can get even more achievements and thus raise my gamerscore.

If I could play on the Xbox360 with my mouse and keyboard, I would have already bought the console.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

PC's are good for many many things such as programming, 3D model creation, games, web browsing, word processing...etc.

Consoles are only good for one thing: gaming.

Theoretically, a console can do pretty much anything a PC can as it is just a PC on the inside. It's just a matter of software. The Xbox 360 does actually have keyboard support. Making it possible to do word processing and web browsing. You can already do all that on the PS3.

The 360 is not just for gaming. It's also for home entertainment. It's kind of like an all-in-one machine minus bluray. Anyways, stuff like word processing, email, etc. can all be done in the cloud through a web browser hence Google's Chrome OS. Programming can also be done in the cloud. There are online IDE's and Compilers out there. I think Windows Azure also provides a similar service. Basically anything can be installed locally on the Xbox 360 as like an app. The Xbox 360's OS can literally be used like a tablet OS.

I doubt if you guys keep up with the latest updates for the 360, but the upcoming dashboard will look a lot like Windows Phone 7 and Windows 8 (you guys probably saw that). Of course, this is all just in theory as Microsoft currently does not allow development of custom apps for the Xbox 360. I guess Indie Games would be custom apps, but they're purely for gaming and nothing else.

Stopped there. It's a matter of hardware. By your logic, I could run Gears of War on a Sega Genesis. Come back when you know what you're talking about.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 are fully capable of running most PC games. Therefore, it's a software issue because the Xbox and PS3 operating systems don't support Windows applications.

Your Sega Genesis example does not make any sense at all. The Sega Genesis did not use standard PC hardware. The original Xbox had standard PC components such as a hard drive and an Intel x86 CPU. I believe it was a hybrid of Pentium 3/Celeron. The Sega Genesis cannot be considered a console which uses PC hardware. In fact, if you had bothered to read ahead, you'll notice I was specifically talking about the Xbox 360 and PS3.

And besides, theoretically, if the Sega Genesis could be configured with broadband access, you could have a cloud-based gaming service for it such as OnLive. So yes, technically speaking you could play Gears of War on a Sega Genesis. The system requirements for OnLive's service are more than enough to run Windows 95. And of course, if consoles go cloud-based with a web browser, then you can do almost anything you need to do on a PC on your console.

With cloud-based gaming, hardware is no longer an issue. With cloud-gaming like OnLive, a netbook with an Intel GMA GPU and Intel Atom Processor will be able to play Crysis at Max Settings given a fast enough broadband connection. So yeah, your gaming rigs will soon be unnecessary.

So I was correct in saying it's a software issue. If you give the Xbox 360 a web browser, then it instantly can do almost anything a PC can do. Welcome to the future.

Yes consoles are computers on the inside. But right now consoles cannot do all that laptops and desktops can do because they are not designed for doing anything other than gaming and home entertainment. Consoles are geared toward gaming use while computers currently have more uses.

Sure maybe in the future consoles will be the new home computers that can do it all. But for now consoles are mainly for gaming.

Then in the further future we'll all be using the cloud and gaming with high powered tablet computers and won't have any need for consoles.

If I'm not mistaken, the Wii and the PS3 both have web browsers. Google seems to think that everything can be done in the cloud right now (Chrome OS & Chromebook). It is kind of true already since word processing, one of the most common tasks on the PC can be done using Google Docs or Office Live.

I'm not so sure if tablets are the future of gaming. If tablets are the future, then soon, both Mouse & Keyboard and the Controller will become obsolete. Touch screen gaming will be used for everything. Personally I find that hard to envision, but who knows? I don't think many people thought PC's would be all the rage back in the 60's or that the Internet would dominate people's lives. Maybe the same will happen with touch screens.

Like I said, it's all a matter of software. Soon, hardware will be completely taken out of the picture. The day will come when people can play Crysis in a cell phone at max settings through cloud gaming.

Dont mean to necrobump. But... HAHAHAHA!

I own all 3 current-gen consoles, a DSi, PSP 3000, NES, SNES, sega genesis, sega CS, 32x, OG gameboy/gameboy color/ SP

And I have to say, PC gaming is so much better then console gaming, consoles cane come even close to what a PC can do, the only thing good about consoles are halo, mario, zelda and pokemon on the portables. Thats honestly it.
