Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

After weeks of resarch including building a clone of my computer, MS tech support has closed my case regarding Halo 2 mouse control issues. The tech did say if more people (like 3 more) phoned MS support about the same issue they will probably patch it. Here is the phone number for MS support:

1-800-642-7676

If you have mouse issues with Halo 2, I strongly urge you to phone Microsoft and tell them about your problem. If enough of us do, they might release a patch.

Were they able to replicate/determine a cause of the problem?

Nope. They used all the same hardware I have (or so he said) and they had no problem with the mouse. The only thing they'll respond to is a handful more people with the same problem calling it in. Then they'll patch the game.

Yeah, not surprised you got that result. You'll need a lot more than 3 people having the problem!

H2 was ported to Vista by Hired Gun, who were disassembled in fall of 07 (much like FASA). Microsoft officially ended support for this game (other than GFW UI updates) in late 07 and it would take a catastrophic bug experienced by several players for them to fix it.

and as you see with Halo 1, Bungie has seen fit to patch a PC port they didn't develop very recently but it is not likely with Halo 2. We've nay heard a peep about H2V from Bungie after it was released, while they talked it up pre-release.

I'd also like to note that I have a problem with 360 controllers erratically remapping themselves from time to time while playing Halo 2 (it can usually be fixed by a restart) when I do not have a problem with the 360 controllers playing Shadowrun.

I've experienced the button-mapping problem before too. All I know is Microsoft HAS been supporting me with Halo 2. They kept calling back to tell me they were still investigating the mouse issue (for weeks) but in the end they could not reproduce the problem and not enough people complained so they don't feel justified in making a patch. He said if a few more people complained they would do something about it, but so far I'm the only one who has called it in.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

Them saying they can't reproduce the problem is absurd and I'm sure they are full of "blam". Also if a few more people call they will fix it is also bull-"blam".

How would they fix a problem that they cannot reproduce if only a few more people called in?

The mouse lag was instantly recognizable to anyone who's played PC games before. It's been widely reported.

Let this be a learning experience: do not buy M$ PC games until you KNOW it is worth it.

H2v was a shameful port.

I remember when my G7 worked there was no mouse lag at all. Although I would have to kick it up to 2k DPI to manage driving a vehicle.

Node, mind telling me what kind of mouse your using?

I've used 3 mice. 2 Logitech standard mice and a Creative Labs Fatal1ty gaming mouse.

I used to have the exact same problem, where the game would run smoothly, but the mouse lagged pretty damn bad [almost near unplayability].

But once I got a new graphics card down the line, that problem magically disappeared.

=\

Glad you got it working properly. What graphics card are you running?

unless they can find a way to lock the fps at 60.

This is exactly what they need to do, but they won't. >:(

I don't know if im experiencing the same issue you guys are talking about, but yea it takes like 5 swipes of my mouse just to do a full circle turn, and the pixels on the screen kinda break apart while its turning...is this ringing any bells? :P

Here you will need this to help you get your foot out of the back of your throat, looks llike its in there pretty deep. And what is that on your face? Egg?! *hands Kim a washcloth*

screen breaking apart happens in EVERY program, thats what vsync is for.
