Hmmm

After First Strike came out, Halo sites everywhere were convinced, by their webmasters and writers, etc., that the events in the book would lead Halo 2 to pack in a whole lot more plot lines, compared to what was known to us before

From Halsey's rubix cube of a mystery, to the crystal on Reach; First Strike, and even like you said, the other two books, seem to be preamble for the real meat of the Halo universe

Halo 2 is going to have to bring closure to some, or most likely all, of the different subplots that were created and birthed from the books, games, and everything else that comes out from now until November 9th

And to add to what you were talking about with "new life", look no further than Sarge's story; the Chief saw him die on the video feed from Guilty Spark, and yet he finds him on a dropship in the middle of a debris field, with a story that was still in question when First Strike ended

And because the SPARTANS are the peak of human technology and military achievement, it'd be easy to place money on any bet involving all the storylines and plots within the game, to somehow relate all the way back to the Chief himself, and even Cortana

I hope I caught on at least a bit to what you were going for :)

I'll make it quick this time.

Halo has all the workings of many ancient/religious epics (history in some cases). Keeping this in mind, as well as the subject line of this thread, it seems as if Bungie is setting up a theme of resurrection. With only pure speculation, mainly from the books, to back me up, I think it may be possible we'll see the big guy himself die and then rise again. There just seems to be to many mentions of new life (regeneration, self replication, flash cloning) throughout the books, especially in First Strike, for a theme such as "resurrection" to be a side note. What do you guys think?

The way I see it there has already been references to the Bible so If MC was the equivelant to Jesus then it is garunteed he is going to die and be rebourne but I dont think the covenant will kill him it will be his own fault but a good deed to humanity.
