Personally i am tired of seeing all of these POINTLESS threads. my deffinition of pointless thead is:
"hey guys i know the release date"
"hey halo 2 got cancelled"
almost any type of poll

The list goes on and on but I cant possibly post all of them. My suggestion is that if you guys(the mods) see a particular topic being repeated OVER AND OVER sticky it! or put it into an FAQ.

I'm not ordering people around, and if you guys consider this thread another "pointless" thread, than my mistake, I'm only trying to aid in clearing up the forum a bit.

Thanks for reading, and responses/feedback would be nice

-EDIT-
also please acknowledge if you are a mod, the only one i know of is stosh, but i think theres another 1 or 2, also don't respond only if you are a mod, i would like feedback from everybody, and i want people to voice their frustrations with such irritating posts!

I've been wanting to say that ever since I first posted in the new Underground but, I'm afraid this will be swallowed by some of these "pointless threads".

Besides, obvioulsy no one reads the damn H2 FAQ or the stickied threads. If they did we would'nt have this problem.

I agree, i have the feeling that this is gonna get burried before a mod even sees it, it was already at the bottom when you saved it, thanks. Thats why i asked for feedback too, dual purpose, both to show the communities anger towards these annoying posts, but also to keep it up there until someone with some power notices it. I just hope it works

You'd think they would delete some of the posts that are over a week old that have no hope of coming back. Sure would delete some clutter.

Frankie promissed Bungie staff inclusion, don't get me wrong, work Halo 2 but stop by every other day or so. I've seen too few, maybe its because I don't read every "Halo 2 demo" post I must really be missing out. :)

Just thought I'd keep it alive.

Must be tough to choose moderators. You have to be able to trust them a lot. It would be chaos if someone who was picked as a mod immediately started executing people because they were arguing with him/her.

the worst part about repeated therads is that people keep posting in them to tell the person who started the thread that its old or been posted before. they wouldn't be that bad if people didn't post in them because they would dissapear right away

Finally someone who knows about Ninja Executions. (wich was a really good joke ;)

Us members don't really posses the power to do anything about it. Sure we can try but I don't believe that we can affect the problem directly.

Maybe alone us members may not have the power to do anything, but banded together we can be an unstoppable force, the whole world should fear us! *Evil laughter*

i agree. I think another good idea would be to have multiple forums, which would help clean up the threads we do want around. If we just had a halo1 and a halo2 forum, that would get rid of a lot of "coolest thing in halo that you have done..." threads (which aren't necessarily bad, but I come here for halo2 discussion not halo1). And maybe another forum for halo story threads. That would clear threads like "forerunnners CANNOT be human". then a misc. forum for things like "HeLLo Am I good at Halo if I can beat the game on legendary in 30 min.????" (guess that would fit in halo1 forum...)

but anyway yeah these forums really need cleaning up

Thats a good idea Michael, dividing this forum into smaller subsections would be easier to navigate, as well as manage. I want to keep hearing suggestions like this.

  • 04.20.2004 6:42 PM PDT

XBL: FTG Spartan
But you were dead a thousand times. Hopeless encounters successfully won. A man long dead, grafted to machines your builders did not understand. You follow the path, fitting in to an infinite pattern.
Yours to manipulate, to destroy and rebuild.
Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.
I know who you are.
You are Destiny.

keep this one goin and on top

Maybe if we got them to create a program to send all the forum users messages on different parts of it and how to use it.

Ok so we got:
-RotateMan
-Me
-PelicanPirate
-MakaVeli4LIfe1
-gnomefreind-
-MichaelSword
-J Sanchez 21

1 more and we have a kickass Halo team. We'll take you all on!

I just thought of a way to kill stupid threads, i tried it and it pretty much worked. Everyone knows that dumb threads usually survive because people cannot resist flaming the author, what I ask of all responsible thread-goers is that if you find a thread that you find unbelievably retarded, just make a post "NOBODY POST ON THIS THREAD(besides this post) PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND TO DUMB THREADS, LET THEM DIE QUICKLY" I did it to a thread about a hockey game, and the only post afterwards was the author accusing me of being a fan for the opposing team. It's up to YOU guys to stop bad threads, not the moderators alone!
Keep your suggestions coming!(i hope everyone reads this thread)

  • 04.20.2004 6:55 PM PDT

------YOU CAN'T TAKE A GIRL TO THE LIBRARY!------

i agree they should split the forums into sections and just delete the obviously stupid threads about when the release date is

But it would be difficult to keep a moderator on the forums 24/7 looking at every thread and deleting all the dumb ones. Like I said higher up, its hard to pick trusty moderators.

To moderators: if you disagree with me ending threads that i see as pointless, than please tell me, i dont want to start ending threads that are pointless in MY opinion to find out that you guys really dislike that sort of thing..(aka you guys can handle it on your own) If you DO want me and others to do this, than tell us that it is ok.

Gah!, what this forum needs most is a campfire section, a place for people to post random posts that they just cant resist posting. also banish Bravo568 to the underworld for eternity.. as well as anybody else that starts, and refuses to end a counting thread

Well, lets see I agree with you on that banning situation. I'll just keep an eye out for pointless threads if you have not already flamed them.

What bungie should of done and what they should do is limit the number of profiles created a day or week. So we wont have 400 new people a day. Making stupid and extremely old posts.

No flaming or any like that just tell the people to read past topics. Bungie discourages flaming. And if you insult them enough YOU will be the ones banned.

interesting idea but i dont think it would work, i remember there used to be a forum i wanted to join but that employed that idea, and it was IMPOSSIBLE to get in. Maybe bungie could make it work, who knows

I used the wrong word replace flaming with discouraging.

How are we gonna confront this problem? If we leave it alone it gets worse. If we discourage it people decide its funny to make a joke about discouraging it and that only creates more idiot posts.
