Here's the deal - THEY'RE deciding this stuff for US right now. We've got a chance to tell them what we'd like to see. And, more importantly, HOW YOU WANT TO BE RANKED. Here's what I'm thinking - ideas anyone?

TEAM STATISTICS:
Wins, Losses
Wins/Losses by Map
Wins/Losses by Gametype
% Accuracy (hits/totalshotsfired)
Total # Opponent Kills
Avg. Opponent Kills Per Game
Total # Times Killed by Opponent
Avg. # Times Killed Per Game

TEAM STATISTICS BY GAMETYPE:
CTF:
Total # Flag Captures
Avg. # Flag Captures
Total Flag Captures by Opponent
Avg. Flag Captures by Opponent
TEAM SLAYER:
Total # Kills
Avg. Kills per game
Total # times killed
Avg. # times killed

INDIVIDUAL STATISTICS:
Wins, Losses
Wins/Losses by Map
Wins/Losses by Gametype
% Accuracy (hits/totalshotsfired)
% Grenade Accuracy
% Accuracy by weapon type
Total Melee Kills
Avg. Melee Kills per game

Am I missing anything?

What kind of ranking system should be used?

When you're deciding who's team you want to be on, and you click on a GamerTag, what's the first data you want to see?

dont forget amt of time played. i think they should have some sort of ranking as well so we dont have to play total noobies or play total gamefreeks that will pawn me. if they have ranks we can see how good a person is and if we want to play with them

i like all those statistics yall said, but with accuracy u should get a better rating for head, torso shots, and a lesser rating for arm, legs shots.

I think I heard from an official source, that it will tell you what weapon you were most killed by, helping you tune you stratagy, ex. most killed by Plasma Sword= work on you movement skills, and watching you back.

I think it would also be cool to see average kills/deaths per minute.

I think its cool and all but sometimes im off and I wouldent want that to go on my permenant record. What would be cool is after every battle you would have the choice to save the staticts. That would be cool.

well individual wins losses doesn't really make sense. Say you are playing a FFA king of the hill-only one person can win. so 15 people would get a loss. I think a point/averaging system would work MUCH better. Me and a friend were working this out for a tournament we were having, and this is basically what we decided:

total people/rank=point value for the game. say out of 16 people you got 1st. 16/1=16 points. This category would go next to total games played.

also total time playing would be an interesting stat. Once it gets into the weeks column...

Also: Number of times you've stuck a plasma grenade on someone & Number of times people have stuck one on you.

Oh, and what about Total # of Suicides?

i hope the stuff is on ur profile not ur gamertag so u dont have to deal with stupid brothers or friends who will mess up your profile (or at least add a new feature where you can play as a guest even though ur by urself that way its not ranked its like a gamertag that doesnt get anyhing counted towrds or against it)

Yeah this is a real issue. You can make a distinction between "Competition Matches" and "Personal Matches" - where the Personal Matches don't count for (or against) your stats.

And maybe you say "Ok, before the match starts, all players have to agree that it's either a Competition Match or a Personal Match" - that way they know going in how it's going to count, and you don't have any noobs picking only their best matches to "Stat"

But then you still have the problem of fixed games. If everyone knows each other, and chose to play each other, there's always the possibility that one team agrees to throw the match to boost the other team's ranking. Same goes for FFA individual play.

I think (maybe) the only way to make Competition Matches work, is via an XBox Live or Bungie-controlled matching system, where they pick who you play based on your Competition Stats.

But, if that's the deal, is it going to be fun?

Or, more often than not, are you going to get matched up against a bunch of blowhards?

I honestly don't want them to track anything. People just abuse the system and horribly over Xbox Live and it really would not be worth it.

  • 06.29.2004 3:53 PM PDT

I'll be on my own side.

i hope theres no ranking system like in SCPT. people are so stupid and concentrate so much on getting points and getting their levels up,that they cheat and forget that Xbox Live is all about having fun and not trying to be the top player.they make it so other people who just want to play cant do that. i say that a ranking system is a very bad idea. just track your kills. thats it.if they track your deaths, people think that you suck or are just some stupid newbie and boot you out of the server.

yeah we really can't have hundreds of different categories.

and for whether or not it is a "competition match" just if you are hosting the game mark it as a ladder match or something. Starcraft had awesome rankings. wins and losses. but that doesn't really work for halo...

I say just put the most important stats for each gametype. kills, captures, hill time, oddball time, race wins, whatever.

I always wanted a statistic that showed how many times that you killed an opponent w/the flag and how many times you returned the flag for your team, you know # of Flag Saves.
