Can't believe no one mentioned (or I didn't see) this...

Kill/Death ratio.

I think Kill/Death ratio and # of matches played (of any type) should be the first two statistics; they tell you the most about the skills of the player right away.

How 'bout a point system just to determine the Rank. Each gametype has its own type of Point system based on what you do and your stats. Then divide your overall points by the time you played or the number of matches you played to determine your rank.

I like what Madden 2004 online is doing: you get to rate the players you play with (similar to an ebay satisfaction rating). That way you would know if someone plays like an -blam!-. I also think players should be able to characterize their opponets (i.e. camper, that way if you didn't like playing people that camp all the time you would know ahead of time). I just hope people aren't babies on Halo 2 online.

Yeah, Kill/Death ratio is definately a good one and wouldn't be too hard to do.

Stats would be cool, but I don't want immature idiots always pulling the plug during the game if they're losing. That would make the game a horrible experience online. The losing team would always lose players and it would just be stupid.

My friend (F1»WerD) gets pretty good kill/death ratios on HaloPC.

Oh yeah, kills/hour might be interesting too. There's a stat tracker for HaloPC and WerD averages about 550 kills per hour.

My thumbsticks will be your Doom.... sorry 'bout that.
My Stats

Well the stats are here whether we like them or not. People will try to abuse them but I think Bungie will keep it simple and fun enough that the true players after a while will drift to the top of the lists.

Stats:

# Kills and with which weapon individual weapon *including # headshots and # plasma sticks

(something like you see the number of kills of an opponent and if you click on "details" you get all the weapon stats i.e. 47% shotgun, 10% sniper-18 headshots, 13% BR and 25% rocket launcher with 5% grenades-12 sticks) -just give us % of kills with the weapon and we can figure out how many times someone has killed with it by looking as his total kill #.

the same for # Deaths

# of assists # of steals # betrayals

# of Wins for gametypes (slayer, team, king o' hill, tag...)

# of flag captured or flags returned (this might be tricky with the flag remaining for 30 seconds once it's dropped and if you can instatntly return it... for an instance: I capture the flag, run all the way back to my base get killed at the door, teamate picks it up -runs 10feet and scores...)

Whatever there is there CANNOT be shot accuracy! wouldn't happen anyway but it would suck if it somehow did.

I think they are currently talking about what kind of death is inflicted.

So instead of x killed y it will be x splattered y or x shredded y for example.

Lets all think of some good kill synonumns??? Words to describe different kills basically.

I also like the term x corpse humped y because that would be hilarious. Perhaps have that as a flag melee kill or oddball kill...

I would have a few because I have the tendency to take my teammates flag and get the point. Ha ha ha (In Elite voice)

Yeah, that's pretty funny. It's people like you who really make the online gaming experience so enjoyable for everyone else.

There should be like a feature that prevents you from getting a point if you betray shortly before a flag capture. Like the person you betray gets the point even though youre the one who placed it at the base.

Yes but if bungie do this then your strategies down the drain :P lol

I'm not sure how playing over X-Box Live works, but if it's anything like multiplayer on the PC, I'd want to see a certain type of stat. As you may have noticed, in PC multiplayer one person hosts a game, and will therefore always have an advantage in ping-time against all other players. So all other things being about equal, the host tends to rack up about twice as many kills as the match-average, at least. If this works the same over X-Box Live (which I hope it doesn't), a stat showing how big a part of your kills, deaths and games won/lost took place during games you hosted yourself would be nice.

As you may have noticed, in PC multiplayer one person hosts a game, and will therefore always have an advantage in ping-time against all other players.

That's why on PC games you should play on dedicated servers instead of someone's host. When someone hosts a game, not only is their internet connection inadequate, but it's even worse because their computer's resources are also spent trying to run their game as well as keeping track of everyone else's. So all those things combined give the host an enormous advantage. Not only does the host have no lag to deal with, but everyone else's lag is much worse than it would be on a dedicated server.

I always laugh when I see games on HaloPC with some dude who names his computer "-blam!- get pwned by me if u dare!!!11" as if it's any challenge to win when you're hosting. You would have to really, really suck to lose on your host.

Back on topic, I hope Halo 2 doesn't give a big advantage to the host. I want to host games, but not because I want an advantage. I want to host so I can set up my own gametypes and run the maps I want to play. I wish Xbox Live supported dedicated servers. How will clan matches work? Will you just flip a coin to decide who gets to host?

Even for a first person shooter? (where a few millimeters can mean the difference between a missed headshot with the sniper rifle). That's good news. One of my friends said it doesn't lag much, but that guy also said the lag on HaloPC wasn't too bad either, so I took what he said with a grain of salt.

1. Like unreal Chapionship, each weapon in the game and the following stastics for each: Shots fired (for each gun), Shots hit, shots missed, head shots, body shots, arm shots, leg shots, gun shots, ammount of time you use each weapon, and the number of times you've been killed by each weapon

2. Shows a picture of an elight/master cheif, with arrows that point to specific body parts showing over all how many times you've hit each... (for every gun)

3. How many games you've playeed, lost, and winned

4. Weapon of choice, combined weapon accuracy, second weapon of choice and possibly grenade of choice

5. How many people you've killed (with all weapons), died to (all weapons), times you ran over people, how many vehicles you've destroyed, vehicles successfully hijacked, how many times you've been hijacked, assisted a teammate and have been assisted by a teammate.

6. Total time you've held the hill, carried the skull, captured flags, ect.

7. Death by falling off the level

Tracking granades is a bad idea, people use then to get guns and vehicles and other things, they aren't always used to kill. Like if you try and flip a hog with one in Bloodgultch, you don't kill them with the nade. Seems pointless to track.
