UPDATE-My family has now switched to WVP (Windows Vista premium) with 3GB Ram!=D

**EDIT**I have also heard that modding is legal in H2PC..Is this true? Also, Is there a larger or smaller player base for H2PC then for the H2 for Xbox**

Hey all,

I have decided to switch over to PC (Windows Vista Home Basic) gaming (Broken Xbox). So tell me: What are the differences from H2 Xbox to H2 PC? I am a fairly experience H2 gamer so no basic game learning curves for me. Are there any differences in campaign, Multiplayer, ect, PC as opposed to the Xbox version of H2? Any possible insight on PC gaming as a whole would also be appreciated.

well as much as I played it on the PC which isn't much, you get a server browser instead of matchmaking, I love the server browser, no time to wait for the game to pick a match for you it takes less than 10 seconds for you to decide the best ping, player count, and gametype for yourself and already be in the match.

some people look at PC gaming like a bunch of people that always think they have to spend out hundreds of dollars to keep upgrading their PC, thats not true.

you upgrade if you want higher framerates and higher performance all around.
If your just fine with what you have then you dont have to upgrade. thats what limits consoles is that your gonna have to like it as it is because theres no upgrading consoles.

Cool!...whats ping?

  • 08.23.2008 4:31 PM PDT

Well there's the reason why you should avoid PC gaming. Ping is the time it takes from your connection to rach the server and comeback(...I think?). Can your computer run Halo 2 Vista?

Lone, who said consoles don't have ping? Anything that has to do with sending data packets over the internet has ping time, and that includes anything a console sends online.

Grunt, the amount of RAM you have doesn't necessarily define the performance of your PC most of the time, if you have doubts about PC knowledge, see if you can ask someone that lives local to you and knows a lot about computers to help you out.

Ping,...the great equalizer, nah, but kinda

In order for you to play online games data must be sent across the internet, this takes time. Not much time in the best case scenario.

Ping is a measure of the amount of time data takes to travel between two computers.<--loosely stated

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Seriously.

ROFL.

Next you're going to say Xbox 360 has the best netcode ever, huh?

I guarantee you will need 2 GB to run this game. It will lag incredibly with 1GB.

RAM's cheap nowadays though.

You will run Halo 2 vista fine with 3GB RAM. I recently bought it and it runs perfectly with my 4GB of RAM.

H2V is a horrible port, moddability is limited with locked up editor, though there are custom maps. You might have a super amazing godly PC, H2V still might -blam!- up/not run on it. No, Xbox base is still bigger. Hired Gun/MGS have already dropped support for the game. It's riddled with bugs and -blam!-. Also, the Game for Windows Live thing made a lot of people avoid it/not buy it, due to some pay-to-play limitations. I personally enjoyed it, but got tired since there were very few skilled players when I played, and the campaign mode bugged out on me a whole bunch.
