Frankie, that was a good interview, and I am glad that Bungie allowed it to be posted. Mr. Errera did not praise H2 as much as Bungie or MS probably wanted him to. I know people that do not like H2 as much as H1 ( myself included ) because it is so different than what we would expect a sequel to be like. I, like Mr. Errera, envisioned a game like Halo 1 with better graphics, duel-wielding, vehicle boarding, Xbox Live, 16- box connect with voice chat/ proximity voice, and an improved version of the H1 physics engine ( not the heavy and stiff feeling Havock engine; an engine used by games that are inferior to Halo 1 ). I know that technically, Havock may be "better" than the H1 engine to software guys, but I think that if Mr. Seropian and the other physics guy worked on the H1 engine, it would have been superior to Havock. But alas... I digress. I think Mr. Errera is an even bigger fan than I am ( and I LOVE Halo ). He says H2 may someday be his favorite game, but if he is like me, I doubt it. I like H2 and I love all the cool things it has that H1 does not, but it is still not as fun as H1 and has way too many glitches and gameplay/ balance issues to ever be as great ( though I am sure many new H2 players would dissagree ). I, unlike some of his friends that initially did not like H2 because it was so different, will probably never come around to liking this game as much as Halo. I just can't shake the rough "beta" feel of H2, and I can't stand the Ureal feel of H2; it does not even feel like Halo. It seems like Bungie ( i.e. Microsoft ) made this game to attract new people, not to make fans like me happy. I can't blame them; I am a hardcore capitalist and they wanted to make as much money as possible, but I dissagree with thier methods. They took the "New Star Wars Trilogy" approach, as Renegade117 pointed out last week. If anyone reading this was an original Star Wars fan, you know what I am talking about. The new Star Wars was marketed towards the biggest market possible: kids ( if you don't belive me, just look at Jar- Jar Binks! ). It was not made with Star Wars fans in mind at all. In fact, some of the biggist critics of these new movies were die- hard Star Wars fans! These movies were made for the kiddies; too hell with the people that got Lucas where he is today! See any parallels between H1 and H2 here? I think the new Star Wars and H2 would have been more "epic" if they were made the way thier predecesor's were; with vision and enjoyment in mind, not just bank. I belive the beauty of H1 will live on long after the new H2 players have jumped on to the next big thing in games.
P.S. Bungie, you have already made so much money from the new H2 hordes, plaese reward your true and loyal fans with an Xbox Live version or upgrade of H1 ( if it had duel- wielding, boarding, voice chat, and 16- box connect, that would be even more than i could ask for! ).
