For my new computer, I'm debating whether I should get the Sound Blaster Audigy LS for $45 or the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS for $64. Any suggestions?

i just got an aufidgy 2 zs last week, and i got it for 75 dollars. i love it, it gives awesome game sound in halo with eax and hardware accel enabled, and has other cool effects. i can also hook up my keyboard to the comp to make midi music. but i still think they could have included more than the games (raven shield is good but i can't get on multiplayer) for the price. get one, it is good with me.

I got the Audigy 2 Value Pack with Splinter Cell. Works great with my 6.1 system from Logitech;) I wouldnt pay the extra money for the zs. Unless your doing like audio edditing its not going to matter. You will notice a huge leap from onboard tho from both cards.

Do you think that some Creative Inspire 5200 5.1 speakers would be a good match for the card?

Wait, if my motherboard has on-board sound, I can add my own sound card, right?

o ya of coarse, you just have to disable the integrated sound in the bios and update the drivers with the cd they provide.

this is the card i have, id highly recomend it.

as for speakers id go with klipch, if you have money to burn. otherwise id go with logitech, i dont know about creative. i have the logitech x-620's i would stick with logitech or klipch ;)

heres a really nice system

this is a good system for the price;)

these are what i have and their nice ;)

o and whatever you do only go Creative Labs on the sound card

Hell no, I had the Audigy LS. It is not worth it at all, in fact it was almost as bad as my Foxconn integrated :o

Heh, I still have my bass headphones and 2.1 speakers. Maybe I should get 5.1?

My bud got a $70 5.1 Creative set, and it's definately high quality. Maybe not as close to true sound as the more expensive ones, but hey, it's fine. It's also loud enough - I mean, if you get a set with 20 watt satellites and an 80 watt sub, chances are your neighbors will get pissed if you crank it more than halfway.

Me? I split my audio out into two channels: two creative 10 watt satellites and a 20 watt sub on the main line, and a 75 watt 1x15" bass cabinet on the other :o

I got ZS and it works gorgeously. If you can find the gamer edition you can get 5 games with it too. Might I suggest playing Jedi Academy with Advance HD turned on. Theres a lot of cavernous rooms and stuff to wallow in audiophile glory.

BTW, where did you find it for $64? Thats an awesome price!

Just go to Pricewatch.com

It searches through online ad from businesses who sell computer parts. Click on cards-sound, and look for the Audigy 2 ZS.

The thing I really like about this site is that the price it shows you includes shipping. So you're never buying more than you bargained for.

When setting the sound settings, was there an option to turn on surround sound speakers and if there was where was it? I'm trying to do this right now and remember when I first played having a setting where it asked if I had surround sound speakers... I can't find that option now....
