Can I use a switch or a hub as a router? I know that routers have firewalls, but I don't need a firewall, and switches and hubs are less expensive too. Also, what is the difference between a switch and a hub?

For broadband sharing, no.

Also, what is the difference between a switch and a hub? Long story short, a switch is better for network gaming than a simple hub.

I am only going to be using the hub/switch for one computer and my XBox. If I connect the hub/switch to my cable modem, and then to my computer and XBox, will that work? I am also going to be using the hub/switch for XBox LAN parties with my friends, which is why I want a hub/switch instead of a router because it has more ports.
